Just don't buy an IBM Deskstar. I have had two and both did crash after 1 year

you can get them for around $120, you might also look at the 100GB which can be had for around $150 or the 120GB version which is around $175. So for $100 more for the 2 drives you'd be getting like 60% more drive space if your going to stripe the drive together.

I upgraded from a 100GB w/2mb cache to the 120GB w/8mb cache and it was worth the extra $$'s spent, I could see the diff when loading and working on my photoshop files.

Seagate Barracuda's if you're looking for quiet drives.

Those 80GB 7200rpm Seagates are nice, and we get them at Fry's for $89.

One of my friends told me SG came out with Barracuda 5's which is supposed to be faster, but just as quiet.

Don't know how long you want to wait, but if you hold off for a bit you can get a 5 instead of a 4.

I've heard nothing but praise for the 8MB 80GB, 100GB, and 120GB WD IDE HD's.
