Difference Between Pride FC and UFC...

Anderson Silva is the current UFC Middleweight Champion..

A year and half ago, he fought Ryo Chonan. This is the 3rd round of that fight.

Notice, near the end, Silva tries for the Thai Plum Clinch like he did with Franklin, and gets denied...

I'm not taking anything away from Silva, he's still a bad ass. I am of the belief that Pride has the upper hand with better fighters.

Though, Chonan went on to get knocked out by Baroni, who lost his last 4 UFC fights. :)

You are right. Franklin should have known how to defend it. I was very amateurish for him not to considering many before him have demonstrated how to get out of the Thai clinch so he should have at least have an idea. But he was totally lost and ill prepared.

Chonan lol. He tricked Silva.

It was bad assed! You see that shit at demonstrations, when you the other guy is a willing participant. LOL

Not in a real fight!

Probably the last fucking thing Silva expected!

Sweet finish there, one small thing I love about pride are their entrances into the ring.

you really think you can compare the two organizations solely based on a few fighters. both have their plusses and minuses...ideally, you would hope for a UFC/Pride showdown...but it'll never happen. the losing organization would stand to lose too much

im a big fan of UFC but didnt know that there was a difference between the Pride and UFC. thanks for clearing it up :)

A few? You are kidding right?

PRIDE HW versus UFC HW - PRIDE wins
PRIDE MW versus UFC LHW - PRIDE wins
PRIDE LW versus UFC LW - PRIDE wins

PRIDE's fighting pool is international best of the best. The UFC is trailing far behind in that regards.

I'm a fan of both Orgs, but PRIDE wins.

Interestingly, Franklin defended well in the clinch vs. evan tanner, which is tanner's forte.

This is my take on the fight - granted I am not an MMA fighter, just a fan - I think that Silva isn't that much better than Franklin as the results of this fight showed. I wouldn't go so far to say Silva got lucky, but I will say Silva got lucky to win in such resounding fashion. Why? I think that with the very first knee to the body, Franklin got hurt; either a cracked rib or serious bruise. He just didn't look right after that first knee to the body. Silva is not so much better/stronger than Franklin to be throwing him around the ring. No way.

Then again, I am a Franklin fan and am looking forward to him healing and coming back and this time pummeling Silva's face with GnP.

Oh, you were talking about the division, not the champs... OK, carry on.

Sources say Rich wasn't 100 percent that night due to a stomach virus.

The rematch is gonna rock! :)
