Wesley Snipes Federal Tax Fraud
 

Actor Wesley Snipes was indicted Tuesday on eight counts of tax fraud for failing to pay nearly $12 million in taxes and failing to file tax returns for six years.

Federal prosecutors in Tampa, Fla., said Snipes fraudulently claimed refunds in 1996 and 1997 on taxes already paid, and then failed to file returns between 1999 and 2004.

Kahn has claimed that U.S. citizens could only be taxed on income earned from certain foreign-based activities (and not on money made in this country). This claim--known as the "861 argument" for the section of the tax code to which it refers--has been flatly rejected by the Internal Revenue Service. As part of the alleged Snipes scheme, the actor filed amended tax returns seeking $12 million in refunds on taxes he paid in 1996 and 1997.

Sounds like he needs to get the basics arranged first if he does not want to pay taxes - ie dump all citizenship and get out of the country to a no or low tax jurisdiction and follow others in the performing arts biz.

Money, fame, women beatin' down their fuckin doors to fuck thier brains out, and so many of these "entertainers" seem to have the attitude of "It aint enough." Well, I hope him the best for his legal problem ahead of him. I also heard that the accountants that Snipes was using have a bad track record of trying to "play" with tax returns.:Oh crap

he also lost assets for not paying property taxes a couple years ago... it would seem that he might have been one of those that thought he shouldn't have to pay taxes. i bought my first car when i was 15 from a guy who lost everything and went to jail because he thought the same thing.
