It's summer time, terrorists are on vacations participating at the most glamorous goat parties.

Ok I know I will get flamed for this but I don't really need to be its just an observation.

All empires die. And the life of an empire is getting shorter and shorter. Rome was invincible, so was Britain, where I am from, but time and arrogance and over stretching defeated them.

I personally dread which country will be the next dominant empire, I guess it will be China, but for sure the balance of power will shift in our lifetimes.

I am 28 now, I severly doub the US will be the biggest power when I am 50, my guess is China or a unified Europe.

China has a terrible problem with over population and starvation... and aids is running rampant.

I think we should fear China as they are massive, they are nuclear, they are aggressive, and they have no love for the West.

I dont see anyone ever taking us. I think it would come to nukes before any foreign soldier ever touches American soil again.

Unified Europe? Those slapdicks cant get their act together for five minutes to work out the Euro. And the right that dislike the idea of a unified Europe are gaining in popularity. European nations are slowing becoming more xenophobic. They hate each other more than we hate the Canadians.

While it seems to be the fad to blame most of the worlds woes on religion,lets not forget the FACT that over the last 100 years ,several hundreds of millions of people were ruthlessly murdered by Hitler,Lenin,Stalin,Mao tse tung,Pol Pot,etc ,and their followers.All these "men" were in fact atheists.They and their followers beleived in ideologies based on race , class,etc,etc.
NONE of them worshiped God.
True, many horrible crimes were committed in the name of religion,but every day ,many wonderful acts are also done in the name of religion.

People who typically use lower tech means to scare the population struck in such a manner that you couldnt help but stand there and stare at the screen and ask yourself if you are actually seeing what you are seeing. I dont know about you, but I stood in front my tv the first time I saw than and I got fucking ill to my stomach. It was brutal and absolute genius in its exploitation of our weaknesses.

Unlike atheism, these systems of thought are absolutely guaranteed to breed hatred, fear, delusion, superstition and persecution.

20th century dictators sit atop the body count list because moder, efficient means of genocide were not avalible when oppressive christian theocracies controlled Europe. The only exception I can think of is when a few christians decided they had a divine right to the land the US now occupies and embarked upone a wholesale slaughter of native americans.

Anyway, I believe people should be allowed to worship as they choose. The problem isn't religion or irreligion, its the penchant a frightening propotion of homo sapiens has for thinking that its fleeting opinions represent absolute truth. And worse, that the end of enforcing that "truth" upon everyone else justifies virtually any means.

Well...it seems that terrorists have a liking for significant dates so I am picking the 11th.

Yeah...on the 11th every 7/11 in America will offer free gas, beer and coffee to get their stores packed with unwitting Americans. When the stores become overpacked, authorties will move in to enforce maximum occupancy codes at which time all the store owners, who are indeed, all trained terrorists, will unleash their most cataclismic attack on America yet...wiping out all free (beer) loving Americans and the authorities charged with their protection...

Intrigueing that Saddam's step son was arrested on a bogus Visa in Miami the day before the 4th of July. Who really knows the whole story? No one will for awhile. Could he have been a part of a grander scheme? Who knows?

For the most part,I agree with what you are saying.

It would indeed be ridiculous to blame atheism in general for crimes committed by specific people who happenned to be atheists.If I gave the impression that I was doing so,I apologize to anyone whom I may have offended.In my defence however,I was replying to a specific post,not making a general statement.
It was the arrogent suggestion that when "we stop letting people worship god" evil will stop,that set me off.I was attempting to show the silliness of that particular statement,not to blame all evil on atheism.

The final paragraph of your post,is very,very well written and expresses exactly and concisely what I think on the matter.

As for Hitlers atheism,there are several passages in "Mein Kaempf" which touch on the matter,but the book is so badly written that I would rather concede the point,then under go the torture of looking up the relevent text.

As for Labret's arbitrary and rather curious hatred of Canada, all I can say is that Canada is setting an example to the world of what it means to have peace. We send our peace-keeping forces continuously to other countries, and we shake our heads every time we hear about stupid senseless violence going on in the world. The only reason I can see for anyone to hate Canada is that it is often a typical occurance that the example-setter is hated by those that would prefer to do things their own, stupid, way.

See, Canada has always worked hard towards world peace, and Canadians in general don't care for anyone that has a pissy arrogant "I'm better than you" attitude. People like that simply suck shit through a straw no matter what country they live in.

For the record, I support the use of force against terrorism, largely because like many of you I am sick of hearing about these insane single-minded maniacs getting away with so much destruction. As far as Hitlers beliefs go, I confess that I haven't been able to get through Mein Kampf for the same reasons you mentioned, so I can't really contest that. I do know that Hitler made *alot* of theological prononcements in his speeches from the 20's-mid 30's, like the following..

He did believe in reincarnation late in his life, which is very strange, and (I think..) in some sort of supreme guiding force, but hell, I can't be bothered to look up all the crap necessary to argue this properly either.. lol.
