6 months with Epic. RANT. Newbies READ this thread.

Six months yesterday actually.

Anyway.

Working for a big company and seeing things from this perspective has taught me quite a few things. Imma take a minute or two and share.

#1: When told by someone how much traffic they can send you, take that number and cut it in half. Then divide it by 4. That will give you a pretty accurate figure.

#2: When told by someone how much money they make, see #1.

#3: If you post a business thread saying "sign up to X program" or such, don't get excited when it hits 2 pages. The ratio of guys saying "looks good, signing up right now" to the guys that actually sign up is like 50:1. The number of guys that sign up and actually remember to send is depressing and we won't talk about it today.

#4: EVERYONE loves drama, I don't care who they are. Wether they post on GFY about it or not, they ALL have people they hate and take immense amounts of vicarious pleasure in seeing them lambasted publicly. They will also PRIVATELY feed you VOLUMES of dirt on so and so who pissed them off at a show 3 years ago, and that is why having ICQ is so important.

#5: Mailers are your FRIEND. They make more money than any of us. If you ever get on a mailers good side, lick his nuts if he asks. It's worth it.

#6: Baddog smells funny.

#7: Linklists are the great lie of the adult industry. There are five or six worth your time, the rest are about as useful as Fris in a sack race. Put your shit on newsgroups or Guba. You're better off.

#8: Fuck the haters. I don't mean ignore them, I mean FUCK them. If you're doing good work and doing it HARD there is no reason at all to let the troll get away with his little hit and run snide comments. Stalk his ass. Get in his face and stay there. Be like the herpes you know his mom has. There are too many fucking worthless gnobs getting away with too much shit. So tell Troll #267 that you dont give a rats ass what his GFY join date is, tell him that you dont CARE who he tagged teamed a tranny hooker with in Vegas in 2004, tell him to fuck the hell off and just carry on.

#9: Patience is a virtue. It takes time to build a house.

#10: There is no money in porn. (If you're a lazy idiot)

Thank you for your time, and Epic Cash ROCKS.

Maybe if you treated potential clients with some respect/integrity you wouldnt end up with loser affiliates who bullshit you..

I'm not trying to offend you just telling you how i see it..

Fact is epiccash doesnt have the greatest reputation for being very civil with potential affiliates, so its of no suprise that you notice the crud at the bottom of the barrel. Just speaking from personal experience , i have thought about using epiccash a few times , and everytime i do i see some epiccash employee acting the fool.. ( again no offense , im not perfect i have acted the fool on more than one occasion , but never when i was working for someone else with the purpose being ATTRACTING new clients )

Dude, I have NOTHING but respect for you.

However, you are just WRONG. We treat our affiliates like Gold. A "reputation" on GFY is worthless. You have NO idea.

Show me ANYONE who has hit up an Epic Cash employee with legitimate questions they wanted answered who wasnt treated courteously and who wasn't promptly helped. You're buying into the GFY bullshit man.

I am PERSONALLY here almost 24/7 to help out. I've went so far as to give out my fucking phone number. Here, I'll do it again.

I will tell you from seeing this on two sides, that the number of people that say they will sign up to the number of people that do, is LESS than 30% And then if you are lucky, you will get 10% of them sending traffic, and maybe 2% will have traffic worth a damn.

I have been with epic for a while now, and I dont treat people bad, I dont disrespect them. I am NOT a rep for the company, but I do fly thier banner in my sig, and I have to say, that I am very proud to work for them. There are lots of other things than the Drama going on.

Attached to the banner is my ref code for the webmaster program. I do not get paid for it, but I do like to watch the numbers. And I am truly amazed that with the number of people have signed up under me, NONE of them have sent a single join.

Dude, don't buy the trolls hype.

I said potential affiliates. I have no idea how you treat affiliates as i havent gotten that far yet.. you may treat them like gold , all i was trying to say is if you treat potential affiliates like shit , that its not suprising you get shit affiliates. In the past epiccash reps have time and time again said things that made me ( and obviously others ) concerned about starting a trusting business relationship with. ( i.e. the shaving somments etc )

If you were looking for a dentist and you met one and he said " i never wash my hands " .. " haha just kidding board joke" lets work together.. frankly i'm a little concerned..

Im not saying you have to kiss people's ass , and to be honest i dont own/run a program yet so for all i know my :2 cents: might not be worth anything , just figured i would give my perspective as an affiliate..

Sig's arent just for signing up people , they are for establishing a connection between trusting people and trusting sponsors..:thumbsup

For the most part alot of your points are correct from your perspective. just saying theres different perspectives

uno 10-16-2006 09:22 PM

I can agree with almost all of that.

MarkMan 10-16-2006 09:57 PM

Getting noticed and getting business are two different things. Epic started a long time ago and in my opinion if they started today with the same tactics they would be dead in the water.

Trey got you noticed and this got you traffic, was it as good traffic as it could of been? Hard to tell, but there are bigger personalities around, personalities built on respect. Trey never gave it and got pissed when no one respected him. :upsidedow

The sites are not bad, but not good. The webmaster tools seems to be good, but bottom line is how well does the site convert, retain and build the surfers confidence in spending money on Internet porn?

Show us some of your review site listings, tell us how good your product is, how much the sites are about tomorrow and less about yesterday. Tell us how your sites bring surfers back to trusting Internet Porn and not distrusting us.

Yes I know you make money, but would you be making money if you started in 2003 or gone?

Who are these personalities that are built on respect? The ones on this board that get the most "respect" because they buy people drinks at shows are usually the ones that run the shittiest programs.

You could say this about 90% of the PPS sponsors going right now. Most companies that are paying people $25-$35/sale are shitty sites that have a few exclusive movies and a shitload of upsales. They don't update or give the surfer much. If you call out Epic for this, you call out almost every new sponsor that pops up. Most affiliates know what kind of sites they are promoting, but unfortunately for surfers, the sites that have shitloads of great content that updates all the time just don't pay big bucks.

Seems this might be your experience but I know of sites that are doing it very different.

Guys when you look at your conversion rates and see them getting worse look to PKs attitude for the reason why. You can only con a surfer so many times before he says enough.

Because one does it does not mean the rest should follow.

The best move we ever made was to throw open the site to the surfer. Restores their confidence and gets sales.

Epic, why don't you try that?

There are people doing it with good content, tons of updates, and doing everything to make members happy. But those people are few and far between, and their programs don't pay and can't pay nearly as much as others.

I'm not taking a side on this issue, just stating what direction the industry is going. There are very few new programs that are succesful that are opening up without a form of PPS. If you take a look at these new sites, they are almost all just 10-20 movies, a bonus network, and a shitload of upsells.

And you have to look at surfers too, which have gotten not only smarter, but more options. Members don't need to sit and wait a week for the newest update, they can just sign up for a new site and get a whole new batch of content. This isn't the old days where there was maybe 1 or 2 sites that focused on a niche like footjobs, now you have 30-40.

Lets face it, unless you're a micro niche with little competition, a unique site that has something exclusive (such as a hot solo girl), you aren't going to get much for rebills. The only rebills you are going to get are those who forget to cancel.

So before you point the finger at me, I'm not taking a side. I'm just saying what is happening. You took a shot at Epic for their sites quality, I'm saying that you can take a shot at almost every new sponsor on the market. Just sign up for a few and see what I mean. There are too many sites, too much free porn, and too many options for surfers to sit and rebill. It's outdated and companies have adjusted.

marketsmart 10-17-2006 05:54 AM

AmateurWealth 10-17-2006 05:58 AM

good thread great #'s and some small wisdom nuggets found in here....

I see paul markham talking about surfers trusting porn sites....HAHAHAHAHA laughing fucking ass off at that one....after what this industry does to the surfer they will never trust it.....the sooner you lose that pipedream the better off you will be...for every honest program there will always be 10 shady ones....making 90% of the loot in this biz....

its all about affiliates that do not buy into their own board personas.....they all SAY that have traffic...but most program owners know the real truth....they just choose not to out anyone over it....

and this bullshit with Fris needs to stop i think...counter productive for everyone involved seeing as how Fris has nothing better to do than troll jims threads....sort of a waste of air.....shouldnt you be trying to make some $$ to fund your eating addiction?

i think you will also find that postcount directly relates to how much traffic someone has or can aquire...the higher the post count...more than likely they are full of shit.....IE...buying into their own persona....
