Do you know when it's coming out ? Any release date ?
Price tag ? Any ideas ?

Why i'm asking ?
Our Playstation 2 just died. Ok i know it end the end of the world but
the yougnest will be in a wheel chair for 4 to 6months (big leg operation) in about 2 weeks.
Now what the hell can he do besides watching TV and play some chess games with his dad ?
I don't want to buy a Play2 for nothing.

Official release date: November 17th for North America, $599 for the 'premium' console, $499 for the cheaper version. Less than 400,000 available in N.A. @ launch.

Good luck getting one at launch... They are going to be in short supply unless you don't mind paying e-Bay type prices, which I imagine could top out at $1K or More.

This does not help the ps3 situation any but some secondary advice.
Get your youngest a roho cushion for his rental chair, just trust me on that one.
Also see if you can swing a non chrome hospital chair, they make life much worse even for a short time period.

You can also do a hell of a lot more than watch some tv and play games. How old is he, how bad will his leg be jacked up?

From what I read and heard the country pretty much sold out of preorders less than a half hour after opening the stores the day they launched the pre-orders.

Nintendo Wii comes out on the 19th of Nov, for around 200-300 I think. It looks to be a good system, not as powerful as the PS3 but a next gen system plus it's about half the price of the ps3.

You can get PS2's for cheap as hell now. Might be worth just getting another...

Nah, I know... i remember the xbox 360's a while ago.

There were only 5 preorders for the ps3 avalaible in my town. I didn't know it at the time, but a guy I went to highschool school manages the store now. I told him I'd hook him up with some free porn if he made sure I got the first one in the store :) Hopefully, that increases my chances - lol

That's AT LAUNCH. Sony says by the end of the year another 2 million will be available. That's within 6 weeks of launch.

Do not buy one of the first consoles, those will have surely some bugs. Its safer to wait few months.

Yeah i think i'll go check my local Ebgames store. We have a member card too ! I guess he will put us upfront because of the story. I could wait of course, but my little boy, ain't sure ! I prefer to wait and have true next-gen console with HDMI1.3, 1080p and 50GB Blu-ray than spent my money on some middle-gen crap - like xbox360.

they were going to launch with a lot more, they put out their release date, and then something got messed up in the production and they lost a lot of resources they needed to make all those consoles, so by the time the day they told the world their release date would be they only had that many consoles. That's why they are saying they should have the extra few million a few weeks later. They could push back the release date, but they've already been getting too much slack from the gaming industry for all their delays and difficulty in programing and all the other in industry bull that's been going on with them. The systems ready they just need a lil more time to manufacture enough for everyone. It's probably better that way too though, when PS2 came out it had a lot of gliches in it, so they released a couple later versions of PS2, same with XBox. Although I never noticed any bugs on my PS2 and I got it first day.

Well do you want next gen or not. The 360 uses the same DVD9 technology that the old XBOX does. The 360 is already at it technological peak. It will be years before the PS3s full potential is achieved.
