Attention All Adult Webmasters - Watch Your Galleries
Good day everyone,
I woke up on saturday with my blood pressure x2. Why? Read this and you'll see why: http://www.threadwatch.org/node/9350 As a case precedent in the sector and one of only 193 other websites worldwide hit by this. I was in a panic. How did this happen? As you all know, pussy.org spiders galleries (and yes they are not my hosted ones - am i crazy? probably). Next week I will not spider galleries anymore but take submissions (hurrah) since I have been working on a new system for several months. Anyway before you all bitch at me, Ive made lots of money for people with their galleries on my site :P So anyway, one of the galleries was redirecting to a virus at a certain location at a certain time. I have no idea where it was, or how to find it, because its gone now. But someone reported me to stopbadware.org and there it went. Half my SE traffic gone overnight, not because I lost the spot, not because I was banned, but because 10 harvard students decided they knew my site better than me. Pussy.org never hosts any badware or malware on its site, the gallery was 3rd party. Anyway, after calling the private numbers email address and faxes of every person at the organisation on the sunday and emailing every single staff member, adding them all on facebook, sending messages to all their friends, they finally decided I was crazy, got scared, and have told me a few minutes ago that the warning will be gone by close of business today.. Still 3 days and 300,000 surfers lost - the question - sue or not to sue? I put it to you... never the less. IF you accept submissions, or IF you spider galleries, im warning you, this could happen to you like it did to me... Every other website owner I have found have taken months to get this warning removed. Galleries beware!!!!! Regards, JB:Oh crap |
Wow man, that sucks bad. People who try to police the internet like a crusade are really a problem. You can't just decide you KNOW something and then just cause hell because you've convinced yourself.
If it was a third party gallery/domain, then you'd think a Harvard student would understand. :pimp |
damn dude that's pretty shitty
|
shit..this sucks!
|
damm that sucks ass :(
|
this is what a PA system is good for, you know your partners and build a trust-based biz relationship with them.
btw, got any PA for a trustworthy submitter?:winkwink: |
madness.
|
Don't list anything with javascript or an iframe on it.
Don't list anything that links off the domain in question. Recheck everything on your site very day. The only way. Alex |

ugh, that sucks ass. i have been hearing that sites that promote Zango are getting hit hard too
|
Could this be something having to do with the type of redirects that a site is using?
|
|
if you can sue - fucking do it, that means uber big bucks altough with the wording they have "the site you are about to visit MAY harm your computer" not sure if you have a case but speak to a lawyer anyway
|
:(
JB, could you hit me up when you have a moment? |

Another reason why this organisation wont last: http://www.stopbadware.org/home/story I quote their website: Tell us your badware story StopBadware.org's research agenda is led by people like you who tell us what badware you've encountered and how you got it. Since StopBadware.org started half a year ago, we've tested a number of applications that users told us about, including Kazaa, Zango Easy Messenger, SpyAxe, and Funcade. To tell us about badware or badware-distributing sites that you've encountered, please fill out and submit the form below. If you have technical expertise, please consider filling out a technical report here. hmm lets see kazaa and zango... http://www.google.com/interstitial?u...zangocash.com/ http://www.google.com/interstitial?u...www.zango.com/ http://www.google.com/interstitial?u...www.kazaa.com/ OH thats funny!!! neither of these domains have a block and dont have an interstitial!! what a coincidence. bastards.... |

That really blows. When you listed my galleries on the odd occasion you found them the traffic from you was awesome. Will there be free submissions or are you gonna go down the road of submitpasses.com or something?
|
Quote:
It will be my own hosted galleries 100% + plus exclusive partner accounts that i will hand out :) JB |

I icq'd you as well, didn't see you had replied to this thread. |
The best part about your post is that you'll start taking submissions soon....
:) |
One thing I didn't get is: who would you sue exactly?
|
Are you selling passes? I would be very interested if so as youve spidered mine in the past and its all good.
|
That really sucks, but if your site was linking to a gallery with virus on it, what do you expect? Sure, it's not your fault, it's the guy who made that gallery and redirected, that's why cheaters are a pain in the ass, that's why we have to deal with them. The fact is your site was linking to a virus, so they blocked it. I'm sure you were very pissed, but now the block is off, think about it... they had a reason to block you. You linked to a virus.
Good luck moving to submit. |

that would then mean you could blame search engines for all or any of their questionable links. you should not be punished for the questionable acts of others. |

Its a good point and i asked myself that question, but here are the arguments against 1) Links - everyone links everyone - thats the internet - you cant blame the linker for the linkees actions. 2) No Warning - stopbadware made no attempt to warn or contact me... that is the worst part.. 3) Its not algorithmic, its academic and subject - that is against googles methodology. 4) Inconsistency - the organisation is too manual and not consistency in its evaluations as i said before - check zango + kazaa, they dont have blocks, neither does AOL which they did a "big investigation" into. 5) Lack of reliable reports - I have had no access or chance to see what was reported, all I have been told by stopbadware is that they cant find the evidence anymore and are lifting the block - where are their frameshots? their logging + documentation? i cant imagine 10 harvard students clicking links on pussy.org all day. I wonder if they enjoyed it. JB |

Wait a minute - now the block is off???? I am in the UK - are you saying its gone???? Its still here for me!!! shit i gotta check my US box!! JB |

Jon,
http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/pussy.org Notice the "red" comments? Especially the last one? haha. "We all know all porn sites have a virus, adware,or spyware some where with in them, so I'm marking this site RED" -- Eddieharth |
I would love an account you are one of my top reffers in my stats :)
thanks karl |
The block is on here. My guess is that Tuga went typing, not through Google
|
That sounds like a nightmare for you. I hope it gets fixed.
|
Jon, I hope you get it all fixed... and of course,if you are giving out partner accounts... I am rather a straight arrow :) 64-103-248 :)

lets hope not or googlebowling will have a whole new meaning. I tried to get that out of the people on the phone, one second they hinted it was automatic, the next second they hinted it was manual. What i did have to do was write a crazy email about how my systems have advanced checkers in that she said would be presented to google to remove it. Beats me what that means, but i made the email sound good.. :) |
The thing is badware is a fucking big problem, like GFY has learned this week. And if anyone tries to stop it, some good guys are going to get hurt now and then. It's the only way to do it, as long as you can prove your point and lift the block in a short time, I'm glad they are blocking suspect sites. And I know I may be next, but I'll risk it if that stops the real thieves.

What I?m saying is if you have a spider collecting urls technically it?s possible to have it revisit and recheck pages automatically or have a different spider doing specifically just that. Even if you collect hand submissions it?s better to have something on the background periodically checking listed urls. |

Sad. This day and age, there just isnt any valid reason to list submitted galleries anymore (unless the TGP is making money by charging webmasters to submit). The future of TGPs can accurately be summarized in 3 words: Free hosted galleries.

but none of these sites are banned.. hmmm |
50 galleries.........
