Do you have a Toshiba Satellite?

If so, have you ever tried using an external microphone? We are trying two different mic's on two different Satellites with the same results: no worky.

Anyone else have any experience with them? Is it simply a matter that the kids messed the mic's up?

flashfreak 10-15-2006 04:51 PM

You attached an external mic, or are you talking about the built in one?

It says plug it in. I was hoping it wasn't a matter of the kids breaking two of them, but I guess it is what it is.

I will try mine when I get home.

evildick 10-15-2006 07:25 PM

It's not muted or shut off in the volume control, is it?

I haven't found a place where I could mute or shut it off, so I hope not. :)

Those are very cheap mics, doesn't take much to kill them at all. Had one break on my toshiba sat.

I think we have have stumbled onto something here. When I click on advanced options it is grayed out. However, upon further investigation it appears it only controls bass and treble . . .

MaddCaz 10-15-2006 09:32 PM

Again, it is not the internal mic I am dealing with, it works fine. I need to use an external one. Wondering if the jack is just a decoration.

double click the earphone in the corner right and un-mute the checkbox near to your target.

Nothing is checked, and there is no mention of a mic setting.

I was talking about an external mic that was bundled with my sat lol :P the jack isn't decoration, least not on my model. I remember a similar problem, kinda like yours, that a clients PC was having. I had to get an updated sound drivers from the motherboard manufacturer (was a micro-atx board) website (for crappy c-media ugh). I uninstalled all the references to the sound card drivers then re-installed the new ones from the mobo manufacturer, everything worked then. He had the 'greyed out' problem.

Phil 10-15-2006 11:34 PM

martinsc 10-15-2006 11:37 PM
