my fish laid eggs again this morning! (pic)
 

this is the 5th round. the other fish and turtle in the tank keep eating them but they wont give up.

i think you may need a bigger tank with all those eggs

You gotta put them in a tank alone... If not they'll just continue to eat them

looks like a jack dempsey, if it is why is there a turtle in there

ive been trying to modify the setup to provide them more cover. its survival of the fittest. the black convits had babies first and its the black convict babiest mostly taking out these.

my better camera is in mexico beach for the week. took these on a cheapo... look at the slate on the bottom, its gray. the eggs are on top of it.

green terrors. there are 2 male jack dempsys in the tank that live on the other end. the male green terror does a sufficient job of keeping all the adults away from his babies but the black convit babies are squeezing thru the defenses.

the turtle is small, about 4in now. if it wasnt for him i would have 300 black convit babies in the tank.

75gallon (and the turtle can climb out into the hood area and has heat lamps/rocks/ett)

i dont remember what the terrors look like, i had one that only lasted a day or two before something else made it a meal

i had a half jack dempsey / texas chilid (if i am remembering the combination correctly, which i think i am) cool fish

its been years since i had a tank, probably 15

im thinking of doing it again after i move, moving fish = no fun

i used to have one for years, this one is less than 1 year but its a sign that i plan to stay put for a bit.

i was thinking of getting a small salt water setup with a mantis shrimp

or maybe a tank full of pacu, i love pacu

had one years ago that grew to close to two feet (sold it to a chinese resturant at over 1 feet and visited later on, they had a few hundred gallon tank with another pacu just as big) cool fish, they eat anything

the first pic posted, look on the rock. see all that stuff below the fish? ill post pics in a few days when they hatch

convicts i have a tank full they layed eggs like crazy... my red devil in the tank ate them up

does your red devil have the bump on its forehead?

the turtle gets one of the small black convicts on occasion, this is a good thing. mostly he eats what i feed him. black convicts breed like crazy and do a fantastic job of protecting their young.

the convicts had about 100-150 babies and maybe 12 have lived. most of the ones that have lived are big enough to fend for themselves at this point. ive only caught the turtle feasting on 1 fish but id guess he got 1/2 of the 'lost' fish.

the rest =

died of natural causes
death by filtration
killed by other fish
killed by their brothers/sisters

ive had several breeding black convicts over the years and if 10-15 live from each breeding youll soon have too many fish. ive given away so many that the pet stores stop taking them.

yes he does it is pretty large.. he is huge with a bright oragne color

The turtle will die in an aquarium. These turtles always need another place outside the water for a few hours a day.

he can climb out, he has a ramp and the hood is setup with spots to sun. flat rocks to sit on and driftwood plus heatlamps/uv light and everything a turtle needs =]

We haven't had much luck with our green terrors breeding. They lay the eggs, but they soon turn white and at that point, mom/dad eat them because they are dead. Not sure why they never hatch, maybe the male is shooting blanks. Our convicts breed like crazy though

sure you have a male? the orange on this one = female. male is blueish-white on the fin tips
