who needs a 64gig flash drive?

notabook 10-14-2006 04:15 PM

Yes I can believe the price... there is a lot of tech involved in getting all of that space into something so small. It's retarded to pay that price though LOL, especially when you can get a 120GB notebook drive for 100 bucks, and one of those ultra-thin enclosures for about 30 bucks. You get double the space for 1/57 the price.

I'm sure the company is taking a huge profit margin, like over a 1000%, on it too. That is just sickening IMO.

Of course they are making profit, but I?m sure it?s not nearly that high and nor are these drives easy to produce. If it were that easy to do, why haven?t we seen more (and cheaper) flash hard drives at that size for PC's with a Sata interface? Flash drives with such a interface would completely kick the ass out of standard magnetic hard drives, and especially since flash drives have no moving parts they would be much less prone to drive failure (albeit their ?life? may be cut down significantly because of constant use).

Just found out you can get a 64GB from Kanguru for about $2,800. It's still too damn expensive for my taste tho.
