zango - aff - CLIFFNOTES?

SO let me get this straight.. aff was buying traffic from zango who was stealing traffic from aff affiliates so basically zango was ripping off webmasters and selling the traffic right back to aff ?

And zango is mad at will76 for thinking zango was just stealing the hits for themselves , when actually they were stealing it to sell back to aff ?:1orglaugh

Lars please tell us this isnt true.. :(

Daruma 10-12-2006 01:33 PM

i dont see why not , its understandable they might not have known "exactly" what they were getting in to ( aff ).

Although i have said this before and been proven wrong , this sort of advertising method ( scooping your own affiliates sales ) cant possibly payoff in the long run.. it just cant , it would be the worst possible move a company could make , besides opening themselves up to a possible class action lawsuit by some greedy lawyers or just from concerned webmasters, in the end it means webmasters stop promoting them and they no longer have sales to "scoop"..

QuaWee 10-12-2006 02:18 PM

lol, any reps from aff going to speak on this?

Maybe Zango have a "skip" list. AFF can provide Zango with the select affiliates ID's they DONT want zango to overwrite. That way AFF keeps the great affiliates that keeps the boat floating, but all the small guys gets fucked.

Or maybe there is a way for Zango to monitor what cookies and ID's were overwritten and spit out a report to AFF. That way AFF could manually add sales to those webmasters they want to keep ect.ect..

yeah except you had no problem with AWE and their revenue *share* that was actually a 14 day cookie, which they didn't declare.

hmm i said that ? no i didnt , dont put words in my mouth especially wrong ones..

The easiest way to avoid confusion is to ASK someone. SO instead of "presuming" thats how i felt you should ask..

Did i have a problem with awe's cookie policy ?, yup i sure did and i griped just about as hard as anyone else did... are the two things related in any way whatsoever ? nope. If you had READ any of what i wrote it would be abundantly clear what you wrote above is not how i feel. When i got with AWE the very first concern i voiced was the 14 day cookie. infact my words were " its going to be tough selling 14 day cookies as revshare for cam affiliates "

But i have moved past that and so should you , awe's business model is a solid one built on reputation, their 14 day cookie policy may suck but flat out awe pays good , bette rthan other cam sponsors i have found.. does this mean it will be better for EVERYONE , no. Does this mean its ok not to disclose the cookie policy ? no . i think that was a bad move , but now that everyone knows , its your choice to prmote them or not..

I don't think a company like that would take a risk like that

I went on a few dates while she was in Phoenix, but she moved to New Jersey and we lost touch. It appears she sure has moved a lot in the last year.

There are ducks all over... but the big ducks are laughing their bills off all the way to the bank.

... and yes, it wouldn't be hard for an exemption to exist for certain accounts or codes... Bid all cams.com except if contains g700080 or whatever. I am sure keeping the top 20 or 30 affiliates in the clear would be a breeze.

the link to this thread should be posted in every AFF etc promotional thread until Lars speaks up.

That might put a small dent in his new affiliate siagn up conversion rates at least from here

webcams.com has been awful silent as well. I wonder how the affiliate account 'dnathan' is doing over there.
They just disappeared from the boards aftert this thing blew up. Wonder why.

tranza 10-13-2006 08:07 AM

If that's true I'm dropping AFF.

I'd like to see a reply from Lars in this thread. Since he ALWAYS replies on threads about AFF his silence would tell a lot in this case.

Kind of, I noted this behaviour in webcams.com as well, although after I clicked a real affiliates code leading to the join page, it doesn't have any affiliate codes anywhere either, so that seems to be normal. So after filling out the join form I was transferred to a page that did include the affiliates code and it was 'dnathan', which was not the original affiliate code that was in the original browser.

If you go through your history in certain zango spots you will see that the URL that zango sends you to is http:// www .webcams.com/link.php?reseller=dnathan&type=1&rev=0&_u=/index.php?page=join, which is the zango browser window you see in your picture before it does the redirect to not show a query string with the affiliate code.
