gootube.com domain owner hits the lottery!

Just out of curiosity, after the big deel between google and youtube I checked to see who owned "gootube.com" and some lucky man registered it back in 2005...

according to Alexa gootube.com has a traffic ranking of 4,415,814, but it's rank today is 19,287 and has been hot ever since the aquisition...bottom line this guy has a valuable name on his hands...

madawgz 10-12-2006 09:45 AM

hmm, well alexa isnt always right..

Damian_Maxcash 10-12-2006 09:52 AM

lol - I checked as well.

Adultnet 10-12-2006 09:54 AM

alexa is right most of the time... :)

You're assuming he won't get it taken from him.

Anyway seems like googtube.com would be better.

polish_aristocrat 10-12-2006 11:26 AM

sorry, useless domain

he bought it before the merger so there's really not a damn thing they can do except make him THINK they can and pressure him into handing it over which he most likely will do

polish_aristocrat 10-12-2006 12:28 PM

ok, can someone please explain to me why do you think the domain gootube.com suddenly has some value?

ok, google bought you tube, but the name remains youtube.com

Klen 10-12-2006 12:32 PM

Well who knows maybe they decide to change a name to gootube.

exactly! they bought the brand, and it will stay youtube

martinsc 10-12-2006 12:42 PM

for the ones that are ready to take the risk of getting sued:
you-tube.com seems to be still available...

thats what i think

and no, gootube.com is not a good typo of yourtube.com

there are many good ones, but its not one of them

Fat Panda 10-12-2006 01:40 PM

i think the surge in traffic might be from when the drudgereport.om listed the new sites name as "gootube"...millions of people might have then put that in their browser! ???

lambpie 10-12-2006 01:41 PM

im thinking he wasnt thinking about google and youtube when he bought it?!

nah, look at the stats for Universal Tube & Rollform Equipment Corporation.
Holders of uTube.com

Their ranks and vews have skyrocketed since the beginning of this year. Nice big spike last week also (dunno why)

A traffic rank of 9k, they were a nobody (according to Alexa) last year, yet they've been onlice since 1996.

LOL, just checked - they're actually offline (prolly due to too much traffic), Jeeze, don't they realise they can send that traffic to somewhere useful????

Tons of news sites and tech blogs started calling it GooTube. So naturally, people are looking up GooTube.
