Bail, how is it possbile?
How come that you can pay your way out of jail in US?
:helpme |
you dont
|
can you not post your own bail on say your credit card?
|
I'd say you problably could lol but you cant use funds that are slated to be evidence of a crime.. so if your slinging the yellow rocks and try to hand off the 5 dollar bills for bail you wont get those outta the ziplock back they store em in LOL

Bail usally has to be CASH, atleast thats what it has been for every one of my drunk DUI buddies in the AM :-/ 500 a pop every time! :(
|
i think technically you cannot bail yourself out, someone has to do it for you as when you are in jail you have no money or access to bank accts etc.
|
Because we have a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
Also, you CAN bail your self out. A bondsman has to be involved in some cases though. |
Most jails have an atm in them to bail yourself out.

Let me step in and clarify somethings.
Yes, you can bail yourself out of jail. If your bail is $5000, you have to pay $5000 to get out. BUT if you don't want to pay $5000 to get out of jail, you can get a bail bondsman to do it for ~10% and only have to pay $500, unless you don't show up for court / hearing / arraignment / etc. Then you get some bounty hunters on your ass, plus a warrant for your arrest, plus you have to pay back the bondsman the entire $5000 + all costs to bring you in. Enjoy. :thumbsup (btw, I bounty hunt.) |

Court takes time. Is it really fair to not give a potentially honest person a way out of jail during that time to continue their life? And it isn't like they're buying their way out of a sentence. If guilty, they still get charged and then have to serve their sentence.

Basically, it's like saying "I'll give you $10000 and promise to show up for trial if you let me out of jail now. If I don't make my court dates, you can keep the $10000". Or something like that. |
