from the shape of the headlights, I would have to say that it is a Neon. Be careful, that 4cyl engine can be mdoified really well.

I'd check for mods first. The 4 cyl is quite quick with mods on it. But from the look of the guy standing on top of the car, I doubt he could figure out what a mod is on a car. :1orglaugh :pimp

mm my friends neon runs a 12.7@115 on 24" slicks at the track but he's dumped a fair amount of money into his SRT4 he dynoed at 358whp 377wtq with 20psi

don't be fooled by the neon those srt4's can be quick little buggers. And i've seen faster srt4's than my friends as well.

That just like saying Ive seen an LS1 Run mid 7's seconds...which I have. But he had wheelie bars and a chute pack on the rear.

off the show room they are "quick" but not fast. Matts srt4 is somewhere between. stock for stock though they are pretty intersting weight vs power ect.

Anywho most srt4 owners think they have the baddest little machine go spank him :)

Just listen to the motor, not the muffler..

Many clear signs tell the power of the car. Rice rockets listen to see if they gasp for air, or the whine of a charger. If the guy is an idot see if he will rev it up and listen for the turbo. Cars like yours they can sound mean, the key is if the motor hits smooth and the car rocks at an idot, it has real power. Not always a sure way to tell but a good ear can really help.

I have built a few toys my fav was a 1986 Monte, built her a 386 roller motor, 6.6 144 1/8. That comes out to about a 10 second 1/4 street legal car running cut 12" slicks. I never got beat by a single street legal rice rocket. I have been spanked by a few big blocks and super charged 350 svo stangs that I thought if I could get the jump I might have a chance.... but no :)

I got hard tricked by a new transam once, it was so quite it sounded stock. He hit the dumps, poped the bottle and the rpms hit and it was nothing but blower.. The race hadn't started and I knew I was fucked and out $100.

I just beat a neon/turbo with my car last week. Of course I have "fly" mode and there was a nice breeze that day so that helped.

in a nutshell this is what would happen to you.. that saleen is faster then you all day long.

It's hard to tell in the video. But, if that is a saleen, it's a newer one and they aren't that fast. The front end doesn't even pop and the hood doesn't look correct, so it kinds looks like a normal stang with stickers. It's hard to tell though.

it's a legit saleen has the numbered plate in the console and markings in the door jams he bought it a few months ago only has 20k miles on it was a good find

Based on the pics, it is a GT with some stickers on it. It is pre 2000 if it is a Saleen. Do you have photos of the actual sticker from Saleen. I really doubt that is a Saleen. It is for sure not a new one though. Looks in the era of '96 to '98. What model is it supposed to be?

Very easy to find aftermarket parts for a standard mustang and make it look like a Saleen. Just google saleen mustang and look at all the places that sell kits to turn a GT into a Saleen. Can't be sure from your pics though. Def doesn't look like a Saleen to me though. :2 cents:

To put it into perspective.

My '00 Mustang GT would own any SS I put it up against.

My '06 Jetta MKV turbo will eat my Mustang for breakfast...and it's bone stock. My Mustang atleast had an intake and some decent tires on it.

It's all in the body weight, the gearing...oh...and that fucking turbonium. :D
