You run http://www.sexy-celebs.net/ right?

shimmy 10-11-2006 06:11 AM

So you're having your users install Zango adware that will steal commission from all your other affiliate links. Smart move

i am sorry, but this is like the 3rd time i have seen someone in the last 2days state that zango overwrites affilate codes.

where's the proof?

twist 10-11-2006 06:40 AM

Sad that you need money that bad.

It doesn't overwrite your affiliates code, it just popups a new window with the exact same site, or a similar site, using their affiliate code.

tranza 10-11-2006 06:47 AM

Out of curiosity: how much traffic did you send them to make $400 in one day?

Manowar 10-11-2006 06:50 AM

darkjedi is pimping out

on the DARK SIDE

mb 10-11-2006 06:57 AM

Anyone know what sites this guy runs?

http://www.sexy-celebs.net/ is one of them I believe. I have a trade with him and want to make sure before I zap it.

thanks,

marc

Because you didn't earn a cent extra. You stole it all from other affiliates, likely including people who visit this board, just as surely as if you mugged them.

Then again, if you could get the other brain cell working too, you might figure out that you probably didn't earn a cent extra for yourself either. Is that $400 "extra" before or after you worked out how much of your traffic got hijacked yesterday?

tranza 10-11-2006 07:06 AM

There always will be people who go for the quick bucks and don't care about anything else. The real question is why do sponsors accept traffic from a shady source like Zango.

if all this is true --

then

he didn't steal shit. he got fifty cents per install. zango gets credits for the sales.

Several have surely gone beyond accepting traffic to buying it themselves. No-one said that a prerequisite of being a sponsor is that you have to have either brains or ethics. I guess some of them imagine it is smart to make their businesses dependent on the prices and the ability of scammers to deliver: being kind and believing they ever thought it through that far...

Interesting semantics. And zango got their money how?

BTW the sponsor in your sig has been very quiet AFAIK on this issue, but they were listed in one of the zango bid lists too. I wonder how much money you lost yesterday?

"and zango got their money how?"
i presume -- according to the rumor -- with their own sponsor affiliate code. the more installs, then the more zango makes and the sponsor shown in the popunders make, right?

my conversions with webcams.com have never been better. thats why i use them :thumbsup

what does "AFAIK" mean?

can you show me the "bid lists"?

Not Zango affiliate codes.
The thing is Zango allows people to bid on keywords. So you could bid on Webcams.com for example and get your Webcams.com affiliate link to popunder when the guy with zango installed surfs a page that has these keywords.
What happens is that the cookie used to track affiliate sales is now set to the guy who bid on the keywords.

i never saw or read about that in the zango affilate program.

You are as capable of finding them as I am: one was published here during the last few days, so it shouldn't be too hard. But I have a suspicion you aren't really very interested.

After all, if you still choose to use the word "rumor" in this context, you must have skipped past all the other screenshots, videos, links, etc. That's quite an accomplishment.

are you implying something jayeff? you might want to just come out and say instead of making tongue-in-cheek comments.

you are as capable as will at finding my zango thread i started many months ago about my personal experience with it installed on my machine. one persons screenshots and videos is all that important to me.

fallenmuffin 10-11-2006 07:50 AM

$0.45 per install for US traffic...

Or send that us traffic some where else and make $70... lol

What's tongue-in-cheek? I saw your original thread and I have seen you quoting conversion rates in another. Yet here you are in this one asking questions as if the whole subject is a revelation to you. Who exactly is being obtuse?

it sure was a revelation when i installed zango on my computer. cookie rewriters and relinks never occured to me. call me naive -- i dont care.

obtuse? will76 is proclaiming that zango affiliates are stealing sales as if that same affiliate is getting $40 per clickcash signup.
i disagree with the wording.

2ndly, where is this "bid list"? i am finding no evidence that there is zango keyword bidding. please show so me the light. i am very interested!

fuzzylogic 10-11-2006 08:02 AM

........... and still is a "revelation." i am finding this whole situation quite interesting.

Devilporn 10-11-2006 08:09 AM

Here is the proof you can bid on keywords http://www.zango.com/destination/advertise/default.aspx

Anyone who is not promoting Zango is missing out.

It may not be exactly "right", but i'm this biz to make money, and I'll take every opportunity to bank off of it while it lasts.

And no, Zango installs do not interfere with my other sales, or whatever you are making up.

That's good to read. Maybe you can let the rest of us in on the secret of finding only surfers with clean PC's...

MattO 10-11-2006 08:47 AM

Zango is shit. The fact that ZoneAlarm blocks their domains is proof enough to me that it's a steaming pile of mung.

You never installed one little zango codec, this shit has fake drama written all over...

Affiliate programs are not based solely on cookies. If they were then people should be crying about this and not adware since you would lose a portion of your sales from the surfers that don't have cookies turned on.
