I'm hearing Comus Thumbs isn't very user friendly, is their another thumb script that can do the things it does but is user friendly?

Or am I just going to have to dedicated a weekend to learning the Comus Thumbs system..

Its pretty messed up - I download it every so often and always end up deleting it.

If you have the patience to learn it then its meant to be very good.

their is no script that has the power or customization of comus, has more features and has great support, just check out the support forum. User friendly? Let me see, you take one php file, put in it a folder, set it to 777 and then load from browser and answer the questions about your MySql database, that's it. The script is loaded and you already have a page ready to go, you just put in the design. Adding galleries, with the turbo cropper useing imagick, you can load and thumb hundreds of galleries very quick, lazy, use the autothumber, one click and let the script do it all. Need template help, we have loads of examples on the forum.

comus has great suppot .. and easy to use

ST is the way to go!

You guys should add a trade feature in the script...Like ThumbManager has(had?) That would make it complete:) For example +100USD for the version with trade script build in...Just a suggestion:)


edit: I mean I know you can use your own trade script like UCJ/ATX/TM3 etc etc etc, but I meant one build into the system let's say smart trader:))

Yes, we thought about this before, but we are not sure if we can make it as good as ATX and some others.
If we were gonna make one we want it to be kickass.. Also we dont code C++ and i am not sure if PHP would be the right language to code a trade script in.

Only used comus a little bit, pretty steep learning curve with a mildly clunky interface; but all that aside, it's fucking mind boggling the kind of shit that script can do. Really fucking good support too, straight from the dude who wrote the script. A hell of alot of time and love went into coding it.

Not trying to start anything but I get many requests to help them install comus, can't be that easy.... seems many are having problems

and secondly, ever do a mass tgp post with chameleon or whatever? By far I hate when I come to a TGP runnign comus, too much bs, too many declines for bs reasons, due to bad setups and whatnot.... as a daily submitted, I remove way to many comus tgp's from my submit list to save time and headaches..

Come on, the admin area is not user friendly at all and it's not the easiest script to get your head around. I've got it on a couple of tgps but wouldn't add it to any in the future. It's a powerful script, but it's far from being user friendly.

I'd say for ease of use that Vanilla or smart thumbs win hands down.

comus is the shit i used it for all my tgp's.

Why would you immediately consider PHP for a traffic script? Perl's maths funcitons are far superior to PHP's. In any case, you would only need to code the low-level calculations in C for speed and leave Perl to handle the frontend disk management.

A traffic script has to do one thing fast: take the hit, figure out if it's been here before/where it's been before and get rid of it quickly. Low level maths, high elvel processing. Minimal C++ required.

Vanilla sucks (I saw a few people talking about it in this thread), it's probably the slowest and heaviest script I've ever seen.

I like APTGP, and use it on a couple TGPs I own.

If you want a user friendly script, I recommend AGSQL from JMBSoft (easiest) or Smart Thumbs from SmartScripts (Good one).

Comus thumbs really is the best TGP software out there.

There are definatly other options, but if you want the pro choice, Comus is the way to go.

OK, I hear you talking, but your not saying anything, drop down menu's too hard for you? Or when looking for tools to do something custom and finding it something your not into? If you have some idea that you want to try, chances are, we got it, if we don't, suggest it, if tony likes it, he'll add it, new update coming soon that will blow your mind!!!
