One of my most controversial statements ever: Pornsites shouldn't give out URL Shirts

Ok, just think about this with me for a moment.

Those school shootings this month yes, they were tragic and sad instances, and I in no way mean to disrespect those lost in this violent acts.

But let's think for a moment, WHAT IF one of those guys who went into a schoo who raped and/or murdered female studentsl were wearing a SOMEPORNSITE.COM t-shirt that was given away or purchased from a porn site.

I would absolutely HATE to be the owner of that said pornsite/sponsor program because WE ALL KNOW how the media is and how they like to sensationalize things, and I know some person will say the publicity would be priceless.

But REALLY...
Let's think, would you REALLY WANT THAT KIND OF PRESS/HEAT?

Even though you as an adult webmaster would have NOTHING to do with that said person who commits that act of violence, it would be a VERY BAD LOOK.

Discuss....

I think you should put porn site url's on tin foil hats.

They'd make a killing. You heard it here first.

:2 cents:

What if he was wearing a Mcdonald's hat? Should Mcdonalds stop handing out hats? What if it was a Maple Leafs jersey? I'd still be watching on Saturday. I think perhaps you need to evaluate how you see porn in society, because it's not that bad. I don't think pornography as a rule pushes any kind of agendas or alterior motives, we just support freedom of speech and first amendment rights because they support us, and frankly freedom is a good thing.

Would I feel bad? Sure. Would I send a letter to the families? Of course. Would I stop selling t-shirts because of the actions of one crazy person? Absolutely not.

Why is it any different from GAP shirt or Back Street Boys shirt?

I'm pretty sure you know the MEDIA wouldn't care as compared to a porn site

I don't disagree with you on that.
What I'm saying is..
you wouldn't want that HEAT/BAD PRESS

MaddCaz 10-10-2006 07:25 PM

hardly most controversial ever but hey...

RawAlex 10-10-2006 07:26 PM

They shouldn't be able to get a budweiser shirt either, someone might think they are drunk and rape them.

Sheesh.

TimBlaze 10-10-2006 07:26 PM

i want some free shirts with smut names on them

i wear a size L or XL

VexXxed 10-10-2006 07:27 PM

I think that we might want to give out more shirts and just make sure we can upgrade our hosting plans to handle massive amounts of traffic from the fallout. :thumbsup

There is no such thing as bad publicity. ALL press is good press. Hell, I'd pay to have my URL engraved on the bullets if that wouldnt result in an aiding and abetting charge.

The only people who have something to fear by having thier operation spotlighted like that are those who are up to something shady to begin with. If the operation is legit, then there is nothing to worry about.

OG LennyT 10-10-2006 07:33 PM

I see what you're saying my racist brother but I dont think it would be as bad as you say, unless the shooter was wearing a killthestudents.com shirt.

DaddyHalbucks 10-10-2006 07:51 PM

You can get named in a lawsuit... with or without your URL on a T-Shirt.

Ozzy Osbourne got sued after 2 kids killed themselves, supposedly after listening to one of his songs. Judas Priest got sued too.

So, I say, be careful, but just go about your business, including with good marketing. Don't worry about crazy stuff, because it will drive you crazy.

Wiggles 10-10-2006 07:57 PM

any publicity is good publicity!

ae-sc 10-10-2006 08:02 PM

no need. could have been anything

wyldblyss 10-10-2006 08:09 PM

I think you need more fiber in your diet.

charls 10-10-2006 08:47 PM

I remember one time, a guy committed suicide in the army. They found a poster with marilyn manson in his locker and all around the news was something like: "army men killed himself in a satanic ritual". Dunno what satanic ritual involves putting an AK47 in your mouth to shoot yourself :)

However, this shits happen when media wants a story...

But that's with rock music, i dont think media has the same reaction to porn, for a good reason: Lots of Metal songs are violent and have messages like "bring your daughter to the slaughter" for example, song from Iron Maiden :) It's a not so commercial genre today.

But i for one dont know anyone who does not have at least one porn videotape in his house, not to mention GB's of porn in pc:)
So i dont think that giving a mypornsite.com shirt would be a problem.

Exactly, I got hammered on a local radio station and told the guy to F off and got 23 sales in one locale. It would look bad, but are they your customers anyways?

LiveDose 10-10-2006 10:07 PM

Thanks for the laugh.

blah blah blah

Using your logic, no company should have t-shirts with their name on it.

You never fail to amaze.

germ 10-10-2006 10:40 PM

i think sales would be 10x higher the next week if the media did sensationalize it.

you'd make a killing.
