i hardly see how that is an offense worthy of shutting off an account..
of course how every sponsor acts is different but ..

blogs are made for people to comment , what may be irrelevant to you may be relevent to someone else.. if you dont want people to post links , remove the ability to post links, its hardly fair to tell someone , post stuff , but if i dont like it i will harass your advertisers.. dont get me wrong i totally understand where your coming from , i run mainstream blogs myself , dont like getting the spm , but theres a proper way to go about it, i.e. you cant just say " dont post irrelevant comments" and assume thats enough.. If someone is repeatedly hitting your site with bots and you have implicitly required they dont, then post some proof and i'm on your side too.

Slight subject change... but Smokey, isn't blog comment spam pretty ineffective because of the rel="nofollow" link thing?

I do not want them shut down just have the sponsor to tell them to stop. Simple thing for them to do really. And yes, blogs are made so ppl can leave RELEVANT comments. Spamming porn on a none porn blog is NOT relevant.

Thats a matter of opinion i suppose , who judges relevency ? i suppose you ( the owner of the blog ) does but a visitor cant predict what you will consider relevent ) like i said dont get me wrong were on the same side.. just make sure its very clear to your posters... something hard they cant word around like no links leading directly to adult material or something to that effect.

Its kind of like your standing downtown with a sign asking for people's opinions , but if you dont like what they say you want their boss to make them stop asking you pointless questions.. i see nothing wrong with pointless questions , but if you say " dont ask me about DIRT" and i ask you about dirt then you can be mad i broke the rules after it was made very clear not to ask questions about dirt specifically

less effective , i wouldnt say ineffective.. there are other scrapers who visit your blog besides the major se's they spider your comments links as well so you may get more than just one backlink off a blog comment
