How many atheists/agnostics here?
Just curious. How many people are non-religious/freethinkers here?
Anyone active in the atheist community? |
Atheist here.
|
No god out there...
|
I hardly classify atheists as 'free-thinkers' and I dont know what an agnostic is
|
Agnostic here
not active in any communities though I'm still not fully recovered from having God jammed down my throat growing up ; ) |
Agnostic.
|
I am not one for labels or one to say I know the truth about the world or whats around it. Perhaps we were put here by God, or aliens, or perhaps what is, is, for no explanation. The question is, are humans smart enough to ever figure out the truth? Would we understand it if it stared us in the face? Maybe there is no truth to figure out and we all suck.

One of my brothers calls himself a "non-theist", meaning he doesnt know if he believes or disbelieves for a fact, or in who or what.
|
i am an agnostic atheist i only pray when I am in realy deep shit
|
Athiest .

And...yoinked from Wikipedia..."Agnosticism is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims ? particularly theological claims regarding the existence of God, gods, or deities ? is unknown or inherently unknowable. Some agnostics take a stronger view that the concept of a deity is incoherent, thus meaningless and irrelevant to life." |

we're deists.
we're members of the freedom from religion foundation. |
Agnostic bordering on athiest. I'd LIKE to believe in a higher being, I just don't have the ability to. While I'm not a big fan of organized religion, I DO envy those that can believe unconditionally. My problem with religion stems from what some people DO with their beliefs however.
|
I'm a pagan but not highly active in any communities though I really should be. Growing up I was an atheist.
|
The main turn-off of most isms is the organization/community/institutional aspect of their whole thing... dogma is as dogma does... I think I like the phrase "freethinker" more than anything, such as agnosticism or atheism, which may attempt to define my sense of the greater mysteries or awareness of a conciousness higher than ours, which seems to come and go with me.
What I mean by the last is that the more I try to make sense of it all or define it, the more justification or "plan" I try to perceive, the less there seems to be; whereas I begin to "sense" it after all when I'm completely elsewhere, zenned into my life, unconcerned and as far from "teh Big Questions" as you could get... Which is when you start looking for the pattern, and it disappears... |
im somewhat agnostic...
Has anyone looked into gnostic christianity... i wouldnt follow it to a T....but it has some good guiding points.... all I do is glean a little from all religions, except catholicism....they are hypocrites wiccan, christianity, buddhism, etc.... they all have insight and flaws.... organized religion is for the sheep... being a good person is for the waiting list to "redemption" |
<- Agnostic theistic
|
I'm an atheist. :thumbsup
|
a true 'free-thinker' doesnt classify themselves as part of any organized religion imho
|
A great org to join http://ffrf.org/
|
i am only athiest until christmas
:) |
Raised Catholic, but agnostic and anti organized religion(s).
However, I am open to anything and everything. I don't think this world is ready for the truth yet. Our minds aren't that evolved. I can accept that there isn't more to this than meets the eye and I can believe in higher beings. Who knows... |
I'm a frisbeetarian. We believe that when you die, your soul gets stuck on the roof.
|
I don't classify myself as anything.. I just do not believe in god or the devil or the other crap they feed us.

I don't believe anything. I prefer knowledge over belief. Belief is worthless.
|
I've slowly been getting more involved in the local free-thinker community here in Vegas.
A site for people interested, http://www.secular.org They're striving to bring light on non-theistic viewpoints regarding governmental issues. The Secular Coalition for America is a lobbying group representing atheists, secular humanists, and freethinkers in American politics. It's currently represented in Washington, D.C. by Lori Lipman Brown, who I got to see speak a couple weeks ago. |

i dont believe in god and i dont label myself in any 'community'....
|

|
We are ALL part of the Ultimate Experiment known as "LIFE".
The problem is... "Who's Experiment Is It?" The only true belief I have is to... Enjoy LIFE and treat EVERYONE the way that YOU want to be treated! :) _ |
None of it matters either which way because we'll all be dead soon anyway.
|
I follow my own path, however I find my current views are most compatible with Humanism...
ADG Webmaster |
Agnostic ever since I got kicked out of the Jehovah's Witnesses
|
I'm part of the don't give a shit foundation of free thinkers. =)
|
Atheist. I'm not even close to agnostic. I have faith that there is no god.
And ... I won't be a member of any club that would have me as a member. |
Atheist. I like Richard Dawkins, he talks a lot of sense but can come across as quite smarmy sometimes. Atheists need to be more missionary and charismatic :).
