Zonga?
A lot of people seem to be pissed about these guys...I really don't know anything about them (other than they are some kind of spyware).
Can someone get me up to speed, so we can find out a way to deal with these fuckers? |
a brief summary on http://www.pornresource.com/article/3038/

yeah I think you mean Zango
|
They install malicious spyware that creates popups with thier own affiliate codes, stealing traffic.

Do they buy traffic from adbrite (avnads)? I only use them a little on www.loljesus.com but I will gladly whack the if they do. |

yo jay
i converted that funky codec wmv that will76 posted into windows media 9 so you can see what its doing http://www.bitaudiovideo.com/will76/...s-com-wmv9.wmv btw never had a chance to thank you for the hardlink so thanks! Rich |
The easiest way to do it is to find a computer you don't like or were intending to reformat, and purposely infect it. Start surfing your own sites, click through using affiliate codes, etc, and see what you get.

the ones they are handling. some info for you. Zango Accused Of Deceiving MySpace Users Users of MySpace who find a link to a video and press the Play button may have just agreed to install adware from 180solutions' Zango division. http://www.securitypronews.com/news/...paceUsers.html very detailed report if you have time read: http://www.benedelman.org/spyware/180-affiliates/ zango used to be 180 solutions until they got a major lawsuit. http://www.zango.com/Destination/Cor...cle.aspx?id=50 Hotbar and 180solutions Merge; Combined Company To Be Called Zango BELLEVUE, Wash. and NEW YORK/TEL AVIV, Israel June 7, 2006-Hotbar and 180solutions today announced an agreement to merge, effective immediately. The merged company will be known as Zango. http://blogs.zdnet.com/Spyware/?p=655 A class action complaint against adware company 180solutions was filed today in an Illinois United States District Court by attorneys Shawn M. Collins and David J. Fish of The Collins Law Firm. The complaint on behalf of residents of the United States and the state of Illinois charges that 180solutions downloaded spyware on computers illegally causing a number of damages. 180solutions' alleged illegal practices include deceptively distributing spyware files and preventing users from removing them, engaging in deceptive misconduct to download its spyware without users' knowledge or consent, lying to consumers about its spyware, etc. |
wonder how much they are making from this shit, some big programs must know about it and just aren't doing anything.

Xxxxxxxxx (08:12 PM) :
Hey Jay - want a brief explanation? Jay (08:12 PM) : sure Jay (08:13 PM) : i know how it works Jay (08:13 PM) : if they are sending traffic to us Jay (08:13 PM) : how do i find them Jay (08:13 PM) : ? Xxxxxxxxx (08:13 PM) : You can't unfortunately Xxxxxxxxx (08:13 PM) : If they are your affiliates you can Xxxxxxxxx (08:13 PM) : Zango = 180Solutions Xxxxxxxxx (08:13 PM) : BUT they also sell that traffic as PPC Jay (08:14 PM) : gotcha Jay (08:14 PM) : is there something that can remove it for free? Xxxxxxxxx (08:15 PM) : So basically - say I wanted to bid on JAYSXXXLINKS what they do on the infected computer is YES the surfer goes to your page but the moment the word JAYSXXX or any derivative sparks their surfer, it will replace the link codes. Xxxxxxxxx (08:15 PM) : & go to whomever is bidding the highest Jay (08:15 PM) : that sucks Xxxxxxxxx (08:16 PM) : Now the example with Sleazy - is this His gallery was on thehun and pointing to AFF - when the infected computer was onthe page and clicked AFF - it actually opened an AFF link BUT it sparked a popup page that forced its way over the AFF page and it was SexSearch Xxxxxxxxx (08:18 PM) : Now you as a sponsor CAN stop them if they are promoting you **probably by checking that the referrers match the affiliate who always sends fromthe same urls. The one that keeps sending from a million different URLS and you can'T really account for where his traffic comes from - chances are, he,s buying that stuff Xxxxxxxxx (08:18 PM) : OR we're fucked, cuz it doesn't necessarily mean they have an account with you. Jay (08:19 PM) : huh Xxxxxxxxx (08:20 PM) : With OCCash - you can 'prevent' it if they are your affiliate and the actual sales come from you - BUT if they redirect it to someone else then they are actually STEALING traffic that was destined for you. **sorry had a beer and may be typing fucked up - what are you huh'ing about? LMAO Jay (08:22 PM) : huh how do you do that? Xxxxxxxxx (08:22 PM) : How do you stop them? Xxxxxxxxx (08:23 PM) : Or you want to know how they are hi-jacking traffic destined for you? Jay (08:23 PM) : either Xxxxxxxxx (08:31 PM) : Stopping them: possible ways... 1) educate surfers - everyone who's against it go on an all out campaign to actually get those computers clean and make them aware that 'we' are not the ones doing this. (fat chance this industry will get together and be pro-active) 2) Don't do business with people who's traffic may come from there 3) Don't do business with people who accept this *and may actually be bidding on your stuff** 4) Be vigilant with your affiliates - check their traffic sources. BUT - it's hard to track because you are affected in more ways than one: 1) If they hi-jack traffic destined for you, there's noway to 'track' that because they never hit your join page. 2) If they are actually sending to you - either by stealing your own keywords (meaning it was a type-in from an infected computer - it will install their code/cookie & you now have to pay a commission on it whereas you weren't supposed to) or by actually stealing from a good affiliate - you can probably find those by cross-checking your affiliate referral codes. Meaning - if the referrer is 'jays-xxx-links - there's no reason that JackBlack Affiliate should be showing that as a referrer right - unless he's buying a hardlink on your LinkList and promoting OCCash. |
he puts adware on your computer
|
There's a lot of misleading and incorrect information being passed on in these threads. Bottomline is the same though... zango is scum and helps or makes it easier for affiliates overwrite cookies.

This has been going on for years. Look around and you will see the jackels, and their supporters who are profiting from this.

Missie and Kelly seem to tbe the most knowledgable here. I got those vids fixed up Jay and will be posting it. Jay, if you are promoting zango on your sites ( think you said that for loljesus) that is something you really dont want to be doing. Shooting yourself in the foot. Also do a search on GFY: zango, get some coffee and read over the post that were made here about them. It might take an hour to read it all but you will know all you need to know after about 10 mins. |
