You'll have to give up your US citizenship, for one.

KrisKross 10-09-2006 07:37 PM

Stay in your country, please.

;)

Tanker 10-09-2006 07:39 PM

I married a Canadian my papers are in

MarkDefacto 10-09-2006 07:59 PM

First you move there. Then you get permanent residency, then you apply for citizenship. Just like the US.

I don't see why you have to be a citizen to live in Montreal.

bogo 10-09-2006 08:02 PM

Its not so easy anymore even if you marry a canadian.Best bet is to learn french and that will bump your application sooner instead of waiting a year.

Spunky 10-09-2006 08:04 PM

Wrap a turban around your head and we will welcome you with open arms

Vendzilla 10-09-2006 08:36 PM

when you leave, take two illegal imigrants with you

Rochard 10-09-2006 08:57 PM

I wish I could be Canandian. In fact, I think I'll do that when I retire.

I'd prefer Montreal really. It's very beautiful there.

(I'm guessing you didn't know I once lived there, did you?)

Even better for Canada, considering Quebec doesn't want to be part of Canada :1orglaugh

We won't have to put up with you in the USA or Canada :1orglaugh j/k

Canada doesn't allow dual citizenship with the USA? They do with the UK and the States allows it with the UK and a number of other countries. I would be amazed that they don't allow it with Canada.

Try Vancouver, too...

Vendzilla 10-10-2006 07:14 AM

I want to retire in Rio

Lance69 10-10-2006 11:01 AM

It's all about Vancouver baby! Fantastic climate, amazing scenery everywhere, Mountains, Ocean, Beaches, City Life, Camping, Outdoors sports, anything you can think of all within a 10-30 minute drive. Even more if you drive even a little further. Where else can say all that?
If you have a university degree, talk to a lawyer about a TN visa. The nafta one that you get the same day you cross the border.

Sarah_Jayne 10-10-2006 11:02 AM

I have been warned not to visit vancouver unless I am ready to move :)

Vitasoy 10-10-2006 12:18 PM

Best bet, marry a Canadian.

So true. I'm from Ontario and love it but it'll never be Vancouver!

Validus 10-10-2006 05:41 PM

If you want to move to Montreal and can't speak french, they will kick you out. You have to pass a french exam. Your best bet is to move to Toronto to get your cards.

Princess Ellisa 10-10-2006 06:15 PM

It depends whether or not you would like to be a contributing member of society or not.

If you are planning to just come here and work and make a good and honest life you will likely be put on a waiting list for the next 2 years while they process your paperwork.

If on the other hand you can get off a plane from any number of countries that don't speak either English or French and you can be rushed to the hospital to deliver your now canadian child then I believe the process to get your health card is just about immediate. LoL

12clicks 10-10-2006 06:56 PM

go awol and then fail an IQ test. ;)
