Sex crime and porn: Is there a relationship?
 

those who produce illegal forms of porn are definately criminals.

my question concerns those who look at porn. is there any actual proof that looking at porn encourages sexually criminal behavior? does looking at rape porn make the rapist rape? does seeing child porn make the child molester molest?

opinions, studies and thoughts. post em here.

my personally favorite quote is from the religious page:
"5) Pornography intensifies an individual's drive to serve oneself, rather than serve others."

and this:
"7) By viewing and purchasing porn, you are supporting the porn industry and facilitating its growth."

Ummm....real data??? All I can see without spending hours sifting through if is a very biased report based on dubious data almost supporting the banning of pornography.


I figure one of the best examples of how pornography adversly or otherwise affects a society as a whole is very simple.
(Dutch people will no doubt correct any mistakes)Holland has an age of consent of something like 12, legalised prostitution and hardcore porn openly displayed in many places viewable by passing on the street. Now go grab some uderage pregnancy and sex crime stats for Holland, a few other Europen countries and the USA and compare...

BTW - seems average age that virginity is lost is also higher in Holland despite a lower age of consent :)
