It's because today's society demands instant gratification.

At the close of WWII there was no "plan" to get everything running again. The plan was put into place two years later. And we remained in Germany for what - the next fifty years?

We are in Iraq trying to win them over. Let's try being the bad guy here already; The spoils go the victors and all that. And perhaps twenty years from now we'll see some improvement.

So our pullout in Vietnam was wrong right? We should have stuck-it-out and pacify them albeit our huge losses. It would have worked out the WWII Germany way.

The difference was it was a WORLD WAR, not some war that El Dickhead and company dreamed up for the military industial complex and oil industries. If you think they went to war with Iraq to bring freedom and democracy to the middle east, I have some ocean front property in North Dakota I would like to sell you cheap.
