As we've seen, OPEC has very little control on the real oil prices. They won't go up until after the US election in November. Then within 6 weeks they'll be back to the PNAC norm.

Way to appreciate only a single factor in gas pump pricing.

Venezuela, Russia don't care what OPEC says.
The US buys more oil from Canada than any other single source.
No hurricane damage yet to production facilities in the USA.
Chevron discovers new rich deposit of oil deep beneath the sea in the Gulf of Mexico.
Oil stocks and commodities falling back down slowly losing their recent gains.

Now you have an appreciation for a few more of the factors.

I shit my pants when gas dropped to 2.38 here almost a dollar cheaper than earlier this year!

Everything I was going to say was already covered. OPEC does not have the power they once had. New oil fields and technologies are popping up all over the world.

Venezuela needs a new trick.
