Does it matter what your paycheck looks like?
 

Just looking at some of my paychecks and found some that I think I don't want to cash at my bank.

I think they are just a little too obvious about where the money comes from.
I'm not embarassed by what I do, just protective about it.
It's not a stretch for the bank I'm using now to refuse to process my check because it comes from pornography.

This of course is a joke to a webmaster living in Los Angeles, but some webmaster in Selma Alabama might just lose their bank account.

No matter how popular porn becomes, I think it is foolish for us to ever assume that we are mainstream. We will most likely never be given the same "rights" as mainstream and there will not be a defense against that.
Paypal, Visa and a host of others have proven this to be the case.

I really dont care about the check itself. The envelope it comes in is whats becoming a problem because you can tell most are checks by the stupid fucking window they have on them. Lately more and more companies including ccbill have gone to this system and its getting annoying. I personally havent lost any to a mailman with sticky fingers but i do know of people who seem to lose their checks in the mail, mostly from companies with the window showing "Pay to the order of" followed by their info.
If your bank closes your account because of what you do, find a new bank.

I dare bet they don't even look at the name.
They get run through a small electronic device and then give me a receipt.
Unless the text from who issued the check is in large bold text I just don't think it makes any difference.
Given a choice I would opt for something generic tho.

I lost a check a few weeks ago.. and it does annoy me that you can tell they are checks. Hell even the mail main said to me one day that I didn't get a check.. "Ahh no checks today"

Who knows why my check was lost but one thing is for sure, it was me that had to pay for the stop payment and I'm still waiting for it's replacement.

I wish you guys would vote in the poll so people could get a count of opinions.

I want a plain check with no logos, no urls, and hopefully issued by a company name that is different than the actual sponsor name.

ie, issued by XYZ, Inc. as opposed to Big Cock Cash.

if you dont want to cash certain checks at the bank, find your local western union and cash the check there :thumbsup

This questionhas been asked a hundred times. It's not illegal to say whatever you want on a check and banks dont even look (in most cases) but even if they do, who gives a rats ass.:2 cents:

I don't like checks in general, banks here charge too high fees.

Much better to get epass, paypal or wire transfer

As an affiliate I really dont mind Biz cards in the envelope, I just dont want a check or envelope that plainly reads descriptive text with dumb shit like "BIG PORN CHECK Dollars".

AS a program owner we issue all our checks reading only our corporate name and not my program name. Some affiliates might have to do some checking where the check has come from, but its much better than having a nosy mail man knowing your biz. :2 cents:

I'm not in the US so I have to go to the bank to deposit my checks every month. The teller looks at each one to make sure they're all USD. I love those porn checks that have my username on them! :( Although none of the tellers have ever said anything about the source or username, I did get a few weird looks over time. Some of them have asked me what I do to get these checks. "I work on the internet" is always my reply. I'm glad I also deposit a lot of mainstream checks too.

i don't see why people would put anything adult related on the checks to begin with, i know some companies do it but i really don't get why.

For most banks, if you are cashing or depositing a small check, then they may give you an issue about it. But when the checks are big, they seem to no notice.

Of if you just have a bunch of cash in their bank.

Dumb bitch at my bank reads the name of the check out-loud so everyone behind me can here it. She always inquires about "Cyber Heat, what's that?".

If I said none of your business then I'm mean or hiding something.
If I say it's my check for selling porn then there's another re-action.

i agree, a regular check would do just fine. one time i had my pussycash newsletter thrown in the envelope with my check while the ink was still wet and i got a big "pussycash" logo backwards across the check. i didnt even notice until the lady at the bank too it in back for a few minutes. she was probably showing all the other employees.

:1orglaugh I remember that period... I just stuck it at the bottom of like 12-15 other checks and they didn't say anything... I was hella nervous though, at the time I was always trying to hit on my teller and I didn't want her thinking I was a pervert.

Yup, had a drop in people cashing checks when I started adding the Semen Donation System name and logo to the actual checks. Saved the company an extra 20% to the bottom line. :winkwink:

I don't think a check should advertise porn if that is what you are asking.

If the check is from Adult.com I don't mind it saying Adult.com on the check. But if it says "Get your links up for Nude Beach House," I'd wonder why they are advertising on a check...

Okay, that's a bit odd. I mean, this is a business and is it really neccesary to put that on a check! Yeah, I prefer the checks I get to have a non-descriptive company name on them just because you never know who's looking. All I need is for the bank teller to be the parent of my son's best friend or something. . . I try not to advertise what I do.
