Question for the search engines gurus
I found a very popular keyword that would bring me lots of traffic if my site was ranked high in that keyword.
I dont really know how to rank high with a specific keyword, so would it be helpful to me to put that keyword all over my page, or is that not going to work? It's already first in my meta tags but I don't know what else to do. |
If you want to get ranked based on a keyword you need to...
... have the keyword, and phrases with it, in your META tags. ... have the keyword early in the actual text on your pages. ... be linked from sites that rank well with that keyword. ... have the keyword in your domain name and/or file name. .. be patient enough for the site to get rank, and not mind search engine traffic. |
For the page itself, keywords in title are most important, then header tags, and also keyword density on your page. You don't want to have too little, but too much is considered spamming.
SE's also take into consideration how many supporting pages you have that relate to the topics on your front page. Building a "nest" of keyword optimized pages that work together is best, but not just spam. Have true content on each page. Some SE's are mostly based on link popularity (ie google). Check this forum for more info: http://searchengineforums.com/bin/Ultimate.cgi Hope that gets you started :) |
Awesome tips, I'm too late for the domain name and file name but did the meta tags and title, and just now put it early on my page.
This is for a tgp and I dont really have content, except for the galleries I link to that have my recip, so I dont want to be shut off for spamming. Is there a way I can find out how my site currently ranks with that keyword now? |

Optimizing one page and getting a top listing in a search engine is going to get you hardly any traffic. I've had top placement for keywords like ,hardcore sex, blowjobs , sex etc. and the traffic was minimal. I'm talking like 15-20 hits a day ( on google ). You need to build thousands of pages , with relative content to the keyword you are targeting and link the pages all together. Have a large link list. This is the only way to get allot of SE traffic now. Then build another 1000 pages optimized for Inktomi. Then build another 1000 pages optimized for google. Then build another 1000 pages optimized for altavista. and so on. Each SE looks differently at the keyword density on your page. Good luck! |
thanks very much for these tips. I hate to sound cheap but how much content do I need to put on these pages? Like a full gallery, or can I get away with just 1 image relating to my keyword?
I'm just looking at how much money this will cost and the amount of time to build thousands of galleries. |
And another important question, how will you submit those thousand pages to search engines? Cross-link them?
As far as I know, SEs have a limit of 5 URLs / day. Thx! |

You don't want to submit too many urls per day or you'll get flagged for spam. Most SE's will spider at least several levels down. And some give more weight to pages they "find" on their own, rather than be submitted. So actually, submitting just the front page is best and let the SE's find the rest on their own. Have a link page of all your key pages - with matching keys embedded in each link, then link that to the front page. Be patient, see if they pick up the others, if not then submit those. :) |
Stop Giving all our Fucking Secrets Away :warning
Next week you will be complaining that the SEs dont convert any more! |
