Anyone Still Use Blockbuster or Rental Places still ???

I have to say that a few years back i went to Blockbuster like 2 times a month and now never. it's been a good 2 years since I've rented a movie there. I either buy it at target or walmart ... in most cases I use the on demand feature on Cable. I know a lot of my family use that movie service ...went they mail it and you mail it back when your done ..

I think the blockbuster by me moved to a retail biz plan (like 75% sales of DVDs) and now have some kind of rent and return when your done policy ... how much longer before they are out of biz all together.

I've always wondered over the years how many car accidents and deaths were caused by people driving to and from blockbuster.

Let alone the amout of gas used

Mike, Years ago I read an article about Blockbuster, their CEO stated they were in the realestate business not movie rentals. Movie rentals allowed the purchase of prime retail. Look at their locations they can sell anything ..... :2 cents:

I remember something like that also. I think Mc Donald's is like the #2 real Estate owner in the world only 2nd to the Catholic church. I guess it's a good biz plan in the long run

last time i went in there they had it set up so you can rent anything and return it within 20 days or something. If you didn't return it they would charge you for it and you could keep it. If you brought it back after the 20 days they would credit you back the money. i guess they are trying to compete with Netflix or something. they killed the Mom and Pop shops .. I remember having a few small video stores in town and then blockbuster opened and within a year they all vanished ...except the adult stores.

CVS did the same to the small pharmacies ... just ate them up

ThePope 10-06-2006 05:08 PM

i rent fronm the church

I still go regularily :) For me nothing will ever replace the video store, I love walking through the aisles, checking the new releases, and picking whatever inspires me that night. May be a new movie, may be an old one, but I like seeing em all in front of me, reading the back of the cases, etc... Online services like Netflix and on-demand cable will never satisfy me.
