My town centre is being invaded by Chinese counterfeit DVD sales people
 

Everytime I go to the supermarket these days I can't move for a Chinese person trying to sell me a counterfeit DVD. They even have a lookout woman that sticks out a mile. This is an area where nobody sells anything on the street because it is just a series of shops. Counterfeit DVDs are the new crack.

they make mad cash..we have one in our flea market...the cops bust them take all t heir goods...and they are back there the next day with a full store..lol

These people must wear invisibility cloaks that only work for police officers.

they are out early too..just got back from a bread run at 10am on Saturday and they are in their posts already

Cheap movies, I wish we had some of those guys around here.

I used to bring them in from HK and sell them online when I was a kid.
Great fun. Visiting the last DVD stronghold in MongKok was always great.

Sadly had to stop when I got a nasty letter and a pile of melted DVDs from customs. (You can request to see the remains of destroyed property..)

They come round the pubs here on a saturday. Its hilarious when they're showing you all the movies, and you ask them for porn and they go into a seperate pocket of their bag and whip out all the counterfeit porn ones. I'm like "Dude I got that DVD and I had to pay $300 for it!

They laugh and think I'm joking, but I seriously did buy it from thecontentstore.com! My friends all laugh coz they know I'm serious.

One of my favorite memories was a business trip to Maryland… went to this asian market and while at the checkout they had this large room to the right, no door to keep people out. I look in and they have about thirty to forty VCR’s and TV’s, they were copying VCR tapes in plain view with no worries at all. Right as I was paying this guy comes in and gets a large handful of them in a burlap looking sack and leaves, presumably to go peddle his wares. It was incredibly funny and sad all at once that they had an operation like that in plain view. I love asians :)

we have them in South Africa too, although what you see on the streets are mostly black dudes, on some of the big markets you see the Chinese, they get raided once in a while, doesn't seem to bother them

stock up now before they leave.. i miss buying bootlegs out of the trunk of a car.. support your community

It's the same here in Vienna, they sell crap copies of cinema movies (done with handy cameralol) for 5 euros

There was an article in Business Week about this recently. The movie companies are trying some interesting new methods to fight street dvd sales - like doing it themselves.

Just ignore them,and suggest your friend any to anyone who youi know to ignore.Ignore is best method to prevent something spread ;)

This has been going on in Asia since day 1 of the DVD.

I don't see any end to it because if YOU don't buy them, there are a few billion Asians who will.

You should see the flea markets here. There are at least 4 shops that sell them. And one place has perfect copies. Full working menues, and they are as good as the real thing. Price is 7$

Trust me, I wouldn't buy from them. I wonder about the guys doing it and who is behind them though.

I will give them credit though. Their system of signalling down the alley when the cops are coming is something that NORAD would be proud of.

I'd take it! Though you don't get fish and chips in newspapers now unless it is a tourist trap. There is some Mexican food in central London but it is fairly hard to find amongst the Indian and Chinese places.
