I think many sites still will....the US is trying to regulate the banks and financial institutes....this was attempted about 4 years ago...and all that it happened was 3rd party processors were formed...

Interesting, Party Gaming has banned US player. But I wasn't sure if poker/bingo falls under the new legislation.

how is it in the states, is all betting of money on games considered gambling?
I know in some countries it is not considered gambling if it is a skill based game like chess or something, not a chance game like cards etc.

Yeah ... but the only reason for this is because Party Gaming is a public company (traded on the London stock Exchange) and therefor all their managment is in risk of being arrested if they don't comply. Same story with 888.com and Empire On Line. All the other, smaller, casinos and poker rooms just have to find the 3rd party payment methods that will continue to work dispite the ban ... and take control of the market. Nobody knows who the fuck is running those companies anyway :)

It's not even that simple. The new legislation changes nothing in that respect. As has been pointed out - it's aimed at stopping banks (and obviously pretty unworkable and very badly thought out).

However, what it does do is increase the online gambling witchhunt further still. Before this new crap kicked off many larger, European based gaming sites were considering dropping the US because as you pointed out, the US athorities were going after the people running these companies. The new laws simply show the governments determination to go after gamning companies and those that run them and for many it's simply not worth the risk.

Nothing different from what you said really but worth clarifying...the new laws change little in that respect but do prove that the heat is increasing if anything and so just not worth the risk for many gaming companies. The directors want to keep their holidays to Florida with the kids :)
