betonusa.com is telling me...

that the new law/bill will not affect me or them because they are located in Antigua. wtf? i thought the bill makes it illegal for anyone in the u.s. to send funds to ANY online gambling site? lol maybe they're just trying to keep their members...

It makes it illegal for banks to facilitate transfer of funds. There are no new laws making it illegal for you to play.

Most of the online gambling companies are outside of the US ... I highly doubt they are special.

What they are saying is they will still take your business. I'm sure some payment gateways will too. This does put them at risk but maybe their country doesn't extradite? :1orglaugh

neteller, epassporte, moneybookers or go to WU...

StickyGreen 10-05-2006 08:03 PM

they're saying that the funds will be processed and all transactions are done outside the US so it wouldn't affect me...wtf? i think they're just in denial...i better go read the whole law...

woj 10-05-2006 08:09 PM

every other known gambling site announced that they won't be accepting any new gamblers from the US, so I would think betonusa.com is not very clued in about the law...

The sites may take the business, but the banks sure won't.

As it is, banks in states where online gambling is illegal already close bank accounts if they're used to fund payment gateways like NetTeller and FirePay.

StickyGreen, if they're telling you that, they're wrong. The law makes it illegal to use transfer funds from a US account to an online gambling site and vice versa. Essentially, there's two ends to the transfer, and if one of them is in the US, then the transfer is illegal.
