If you see Jack around - can you tell him he's still a subject of speculation and a celeb in the criminal justice system? It might not be what he wanted - but hell, ya can't win em all.

thebossxxx 10-03-2006 11:51 PM

Where is murder mile? Lived in London for a year when I was 18... few blocks from Vauxhall tube, close to Brixton. Rarely ran into problems in London, even the many times I was by myself completely wasted.

One time an asian man in a drunken rage on the subway told me that "Genghis Khan was going to kill me" and all the rest of us whiteys or something similar.

Sarah_Jayne 10-04-2006 03:42 AM

North of the river is okay as long as you have your shots.

Ooooh!

Well, being a previous resident of Croydon, Dulwich Village and Clapham I like to think south of the river counts... Although Croydon has gone downhill since i left! I did a few years in Westminster too....

My brother just moved from Clapham to Manor House... so he is a Northy now!!!! :Oh crap

Sarah_Jayne 10-04-2006 03:58 AM

the trams in Croydon are good though

But the people of Beckenham complain about all the trash that rolls in from Croydon on them!!!!

Sarah_Jayne 10-04-2006 04:44 AM

Have you met the people in Bechenham? They are only one slight step above Bromley people so have little room to complain.

Yeah, Bromley isn't the nicest....

Not many nice suburbs in South London at all. It is more like agar jelly breeding grounds for scum.

I would have thought the worst place would be places near those big tower blocks, where all the drugs and gangs are. and druggangs

Infact the most dangerous place would be on the tube lines, but at 4.am would be the safest coz they all shut down!! :warning

Sarah_Jayne 10-04-2006 06:52 AM

the tubes are actually pretty safe..and they will eventually (I hope) be 24hrs

ozmatt 10-04-2006 07:57 AM

i am in London at the moment, and alive and kicking :) but i am in fulham, quite nice around here :)

dissipate 10-04-2006 08:01 AM

Since I otherwise have nothing to contribute to this thread

<insert random joke about general lack of dental hygiene amoung Brits>

Sarah_Jayne 10-04-2006 08:02 AM

Cosmetic dentistry is one of the fastest growing industries in the UK. So, they get the message. If more dentists were on the NHS teeth would be better.

We used to have a "Murder Mile" in Belfast during the troubles, at least we had a reason for it being called "Murder Mile" :pimp

What's the deal in your area of London?

E$_manager 10-04-2006 10:00 AM

I was living in "Murder City".... Still alive.

At least in Belfast they had a reason. You didnt have to agree with it, but it must have felt better.

I almost feel bad about saying what it is here - Its not very PC -

Its black kids with guns - there I said it.

Its fucking blacks with guns that cause the problems here.

Sarah_Jayne 10-04-2006 11:04 AM

Well, it isn't as if people are being gunned down all the time in London. There are real growing issues but that makes it sound like it is worse than it is - especially compared to US rates, etc.

Though, you are right..it is the Yardie thing.

btw..how were the cannolis?

It would have cost you less to take the tube there and get them :) I am in town next week to take an exam for my masters..I might try to find that place. Old Compton isn't that big so it should be findable.

Well actually in your situation it's easier to know who to try and avoid :)

Unless the attackers have a Rangers or Celtic shirt on it is kinda difficult to know who I should try and avoid :winkwink:

Fuck political correctness! It's just another form of censorship

Say what's on your mind, that's my moto :pimp

I used to think Belfast was bad for crime but compared to other parts of the UK we actually have a very low crime rate. I was rather shocked!

We do have a strong sense of order in Northern Ireland though, between the IRA and the loyalist paramilitares they control most of the crime/blackmarket in the country.

I suppose that's better than having a bunch of kids with guns thinking they are 2Pac or 50 cent :)

Are there any decent films about the gang culture in London? I remember reading about one that was banned a few years back. It was about all the different gangs fighting for their turf in London. Sounded interesting :)

I watched a film the other week called - Johnny Was

It was pretty decent, it reminded me of Lock Stock a little bit

Lock Stock dosnt really happen any more - towards the end they where a bit of a joke.

In the 80s you could make more money legally and they just didnt know how to profit from it

Bullet Boy was a half decent attempt to explore the London ghetto crime world - http://imdb.com/title/tt0385568/ - it isn't a fantastic film but it isn't that bad either.
