What the fuck am I doing wrong?

My site (www.porno-shack.com) is a PR4 site with tons of posts, gets updated frequently and does 10k hits a day, only about 100-200 of those hits are se hits though. October 1 and 2 the site did 600 se hits a day, I was excited because I figured I started doing something right. Now the site is right back to where it was. The site, in my opinion at least, looks good. We force traffic to it, post good content with lots of text posts.......and cover everything someone could want almost...why isn't the site growing in popularity, its 7 months old so far.

Add a "bookmark my shitty site" link so people know where to come back to when they 'need' more porn. Your site is also not very original. It's a basic "we're going to toss some porn at you today" blog-type web site, so you shouldn't expect much unless the shit you post is completely ridiculous or exclusive.

Basically, give the visitors what they want (after you find out what that is) and don't whine about a lack of results. Keep working at it and it will solve itself. Also make sure you have lots of hardlinks coming in, preferably from sites with equal or higher PR.

There are always ups and downs and not everyone can be on the rise all the time. That's a simple fact and it probably doesn't motivate you too much right now, but maybe you can use it to your advantage. Work even harder than before and try some new things. If you find something works well, go with it.

Often times, in my opinion, people make web sites that are set into stone and don't have much of a personal touch. You should be willing to make lots of changes all the time to please your audience. They will appreciate that and then your site will grow on its own.

That's just my opinion though, I could very well be a stupid asshole and completely wrong.

Though harsh you are right at the point. I've never spent so much time on a project without payoff and while the site is paying for itself I want more out of it. I know it's not to original. I've been trying to think of ways to make it more special. Aways trying to think up ideas personally. Thanks for the input, I need all the criticism I can get, harsh or not, because I want to be a full time webmaster instead of doing this part time with friends.

I would try making the updates less frequent, but with more stuff for the visitors. Maybe add some jokes or ridiculous comments into it? People might come back to something that's amusing and also gets them off at the same time, rather than just some site that tries to cram some porn video or a site membership down their throat every day.

I'm glad you didn't get all pissy about the 'harsh' criticism and hopefully you can be doing this full-time soon.

I would love to chat with you on icq if you ever get the chance. My number is 59975954. I thought about posting once a day or so, and adding jokes and some off the wall comments.....I never get pissy about criticism I would rather someone was very blunt and told me where I was fucking up so I could better it and bring in the revenue.

Have you ever heard of the Google sandbox? Sounds like you got the sandy jack to me... the more hits to your site the more its content and metas should be noticed (unless you ain't got none)... so maybe that's it? give it a month or two longer, you should be getting more SE hits.

btw - for what search terms have you been noticing the SE traffic?
