Okay, not sure how I should handle this designer issue

Scenario: I needed a relatively simple Flash design done. I was contacted on the evening of 10/1 and was assured I would have at least a first run by 10/2.

The afternoon of 10/2 I am contacted to verify the size of the Flash, and am told I will have something that night.

Early this afternoon I am given a product that looks nice, except it never mentions my site, or the URL and spells "telephone" as "fone." I point out the errors and am told they will be fixed "now." That was 4 hours ago.

They do not respond to ICQ or email, and have no phone number on their site. I am under a deadline here.

So, do I grin and bear it, or do I tell them never mind and move on to another designer? What do you think is the fair way to do it?

The way I feel about it is that unfinished work is the same as no work. It is of no use to me in the current format.

Discuss.

You (naturally) tell him he´s fired and look for another designer.

another designer would take another 3+ days.

you may want to just work with this guy...

Obviously gramps isn't capable of making these sorts of decisions by himself and needs to come to GFY for help.

Seems a little soon to panic. Was stupid to make a flash animation that had no mention of the site or url, but it sounds like it got done pretty quick otherwise.

Work done fast and cheap requires a certain amount of... uhmm... leniency.

That is pretty much how I feel about it. This is the email I sent them 1 1/2 hours ago:

This inability to contact you sucks. We are under a deadline pressure here. Communication is mandatory or I will hire someone else to do it. I like what you have done so far, but incomplete work is the same as no work IMHO.

If I don't hear from you immediately I will have no choice but to contact another designer.

The problem being, if I wait too long then it is too late.

Yes, you can try being nice until you got a pink belt in patience. Just fire him and find another guy. A deadline is a deadline..
