Yea so how are they going to get them anywhere in large numbers? Every warship or sub they have would be destroyed within 24 hours of any attqack that forced a US responce.

For China it would be the same.. both countries have massive amounts of troops but can't come close to matching the US on the naval battlefeild or in the air.

Our govt knows we can't match countries like that when it comes to active troops unless their was a draft. That's why we have so much air and naval power.

And 100,00 Rifles between them.. The relationship and proximity to China is the issue.

Man you are a total tool. If you think the 700k poorly armed troops that North Korea has is the main reason why the US hasn't done anything. There are so many issues tied in it isn't funny. Militarily, the US could wipe out their whole military and nuclear program before North Korea would have a chance to shoot their aa guns into a dark sky hoping to hit a plane. Just like in Iraq, the issue isn't whether the US can walk over the top of them, it's everything else that comes after they do that, and who they upset in the process.

Just China and maybe Iran.. but Iran can't really do shit to help them other than cause more issues in the middle east. It's also unlikely China would risk what they have gained in their new found love of capitalism to help out NK.

NK is becoming more of a useless burden to China. I think even China is starting to see that.

More imporantly is the US even with the BS in Iraq still has many allies that would be affected by a war with NK or China. So it wouldn't just be the US fighting China or NK.

We have planes that can shut down entire power grids from the air, they were used in Iraq but barely heard mention of it. When they used it then, it was reported that they didn't even want to use them in Iraq because the military didn't want to let the cat out of the bag.

When I was in Kunsan, South Korea, there were NK defectors coming over all the time.

They complained they were starving and their 'war-machines' were antiquated 1950's Russian crapmobiles.

who is "you guys" no one says it would be cake walk but we wouldn't likely invade them.. We would lob missiles and drop bombs on them, they could save the flowers for the graves.

I've never supported the war in Iraq or Bush, but I've always felt something should be done about both Iran and North Korea. I also wouldn't want to go to war with either under Bush, because he's an idiot.

However neither NK or Iran should be aloud to have nuclear weapons. With NK it's unlikely that we will do anything about it and in reality they probably aren't much of a real threat at this point.

The threat comes when their dictatorship finally fails. Then who gets to put their finger on the button or who would they be sold to on the black market?

Their current leader is too much in love with himself to likely do anything to get his ass killed. That and he's an attention whore.

However Iran must be stopped at all costs IMO. Iran is a country led not only by a crazy man but also as a religious dictatorship. That is a very scary combo.

NK is the perfect target as far as waring without troops goes.

We could station the ships right off the coast and begin a systematic extermination.

Right now we would not do anything because of China.

Counting the number of troops doesn't even make a good first approximation of military strength. This is 2006. How many troops is a tank worth? How many troops is a stealth bomber worth? how much is air superiority worth?

actually the ROK Army has been training and advised by the US Army for years now and would wipe the floor with the North's starving, destitute, unwilling fighters. :)
