how can there be a rule that human beings under the age of 18 cant be video taped naked, or taken pictres of, etc but this rule doesnt seem to apply to human beings under the age of 1??

Standards for nudity of children and adults are cultural. An native tribe that runs naked most of the time isn't going to think twice about nudity. In our culture, where people are normally clothed, and religion pollutes the atmosphere with sexual prohibitions which result in a morbid curiosity over matters sexual, the nudity of a child, and especially a young adolescent, can cause impure thoughts in even relatively "healthy" individuals. I'm willing to bet that many males who wouldn't dream of actually having sex with an underage girl still got a bit of a rush watching Natalie Portman in The Professional or Beautiful Girls (where I believe Roger Ebert described Portman as the most naturally sexy of all the girls in the movie, even if she was only about 15 at the time).

There was a long huge thread about this on another board. It made me sick to find out that pictures of underage children weren't illegal even on an adult site.

Child porn isn't just pictures of naked kids! In exactly the same way that Adult porn isn't just pictures of naked women. Stop being pedantic and apply some fucking common sense.
Yes pictures of naked babies and small kids are acceptable because our society dictates that is cute, in the same way puppies and kittens are cute, its human conditioning - it helps baby mammals survive.
There is a world of difference between this and CP and I think you're undermining the whole issue by trying to compare the two!

I have 2 boys and now a 5 month old girl and I don't think that there's nothing bad about naked babies up until a certain age. When they're babies, they're adorable, I can look at my baby girl laying there in just a diaper and think that it's cute, never having a bad thought about it. I guess that's how most people think.

If you have a REALLY fucked up mind, then I guess that you could see someone getting off on watching a diaper commercials, but to most, that's not a problem.
