Ebay question: Should I tell people what my reserve is? people are emailing me asking
hi. This is for all the ebay junkies out there, or anyone who knows alot about auctions in general.
i just listed a item on ebay for sale. i have had 4 people email me asking me what the reserve is. Should I tell them? is that in my benifit for them to know the reserve? what are the pros and cons? thanx =] |
I think yes, but some people say no.
If people don't tell me the reserve when I ask, then I usually don't bother bidding because I think they're trying to hide something. Most sellers I've dealt with do tell you if you ask, but some refuse. It's your call. |
No harm in telling them, then they know what to expect.

depends on what your selling

Tell them the reserve, so they can consider and think about wether they'd pay that much or not.
|
Tell them . Otherwise - you have people that will cheat to find out - they will bid $60,000 and then retract the bid - saying the made a mistake - they meant $600...
Not that it will really hurt you, but some people would rather bid on items where they know the reserve - or would rather not waste their time. Might as well make those people happy.... |

so from what you guys are saying, wouldnt it be better to just tell everyone on the ebay auction what the reserve is, so people know ahead of time? That might even get more bidders to the auction, because there will be no suprises, right?
