US teenager appeals fine for sex outside marriage

A Georgia teenager is tackling his state's fornication law after he was fined for having sex with his girlfriend.

The two 16-year-olds were caught having sex by the girl's mother.

They were old enough to have sex but were found guilty at Fayette Juvenile Court because they're not married.

The girl was sent to boot camp. Her probation officer pressed charges after hearing about the incident.

The boy's lawyer and the American Civil Liberties Union are appealing in the Georgia Supreme Court.

The boy's lawyer Catherine Sanderson said: "Unless you're married, you have to be celibate under the law.

Yep, doesn't surprise me. Georgia is also the source of the landmark US Supreme Court case Bowers v. Hardwick--which held that even if 2 adults are consenting they still must abide by the state's anti-sodomy laws.

Actually, in some states, a spouse can sue the new partner of the ex-spouse for breaking them up. This cause of action is called "alienation of affection." Civil penalties could be huge.

When I was in the Marines I went to Tank school in Kentucky

they warned us if we took a girl to a hotel pay with cash and use a fake name because in Kentucky if you and a girl stay in a hotel together she can legally claim marriage

-Bathhouses are against the law.
-It is a misdemeanor to shoot at any kind of game from a moving vehicle, unless the target is a whale.
-Women may not drive in a house coat.
-No vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 miles per hour.

Alaska-
-Moose may not be viewed from an airplane.
-While it is legal to shoot bears, waking a sleeping bear for the purpose of taking a photograph is prohibited.
-It is considered an offense to push a live moose out of a moving airplane.


Virginia-
-Not only is it illegal to have sex with the lights on, one may not have sex in any position other than missionary.
-There is a state law prohibiting "corrupt practices of bribery by any person other than candidates."
-If one is not married, it is illegal for him to have sexual relations.
-You may not have oral or anal sex.
-Driving while not wearing shoes is prohibited.
-Citizens must honk their horn while passing other cars.
-Children are not to go trick-or-treating on Halloween.
-It is illegal to tickle women.
