yes it is illegal is most US states to defame an ex employee, most just allow you to state the dates of employment, if they resigned or were asked to leave, and if they are eligible for re-hire.
i dont think the ex-employee would have to sue on thier own dime, as it is a law on the books in many states, they would just half to report it and provide proof. |
