Skype or Vonage or ?

I am traveling tons and want a way to call people in the us over the computer. Yeah, icq etc is cool but sucks when you need to do a wire transfer and you cannot call a 1-800 number with the phone you have. Basically running your life long distance is a bitch on cell phones with credits etc.

So anyone have experince and can point me in the right direction?

So far I am just shouting at my keyboard as I have no idea where the speaker is and everything is closed here. A little bit of an echo but so far very cool. Just a heads up but Skype is quite a bit cheaper on most over seas calls.

ok with skype I am able to make calls anywhere in the world very easily. Much easier even then a regular phone. I can message. Very cool. I cannot recieve messages. Sucks. But I can make it so they respopnd to my cell. Ok sucky but works. This is a huge deal in countries where you buy these cheaps phones that require you to keep dropping cards into them for air time.

I was able to buy a line in the US that is ready to take calls. it already works. I set up the voicemail. Again real easy.

Next step is to add a local number here in Brazil. Just wondering how confusing is that going to be....?

I stick by my Packet8 hardware, and software.

If you're interested in trying them out, hit me up on ICQ. I can have them email you a link which will give you a free month, and if you stay on over three, I get like $5 towards Amazon. Woo.. big incentive.
