Florida Rep. Mark Foley's resignation came just hours after ABC News questioned the congressman about a series of sexually explicit instant messages involving congressional pages, high school students who are under 18 years of age.

In Congress, Rep. Foley (R-FL) was part of the Republican leadership and the chairman of the House caucus on missing and exploited children.

I heard how the pages he approached did not want to report him, that they put up with his advances, because they did not want hurt their own chances at careers in politics. Makes me think how horrible it is that young people, both boys and girls, have to put up with this kind of stuff for fear of making a fuss. This kind of thing happens in so many workplaces. Let us keep in mind that the US is one of the only fucked up counties that has the age of consent up that high. In most countries, it is 15 or 16, where it should be. However, Foley is guilty of fucking around on taxpayer time and for that reason alone he should be gotten rid of.
