Dateline is doing the sting on guys that pick up young girls on the web thing .. some of these guys have the most fucked up excuses ..:Oh crap

watching now of course they wont talk about parent responsibility.

this is true .. so many parents have no idea who their kid is talking to .. it's fucked up ... :disgust

now how come there isnt a big out cry to shut down chat rooms thats where the monsters hang out not on porn sites.

they need to have a followup show that shows the disposition of their cases.

I've always thought that a tattoo was a good idea too.

The problem is that the people in the "sex crimes database" are just way too varied. I have a friend who got accused of something that he absolutely didn't do. There were 15 people there that testified he didn't even come close to it. But he got convicted on a much lower charge after a long and drawn out court battle and now he's in the database. It follows him everywhere.

This whole concept is like capital punishment. I'm all for it, but you hate to see good people get brought down in the tide.

come on they push the limits and it's all in what they are charged with. chatting is one thing, showing nude pictures and porn to someone who says they're underage is not entrapment and neither is going to a house to meet up with what you expect to a minor regardless of the real age.

so its all in what they're being charged with. i for one hope they make it into its own show and run it every week on people in new places. its much different than a minor lying about age and claiming to be older. these people are making it way clear that they are underage so the guys that show up are getting what they deserve.

Child molesters are bad, we get it and we all agree. The Internet has bad people on it, just like your street probably does.

First question.
How many would have never acted upon it and left it in the realm of fantasy if they were not lured to someones home by what comes across as a willing child? Flame me, I do not care. I want them off the streets as well, but these are not the sickos that are abducting kids either as it seems.

Second question.
Why no blame on the parents for allowing their kids to chat up strangers on the Internet? They seem to desire to just point out the ugly, expect the Internet to be as safe as... well fuck nowhere is really safe. I was going to say backyard but parents put up fences, have dogs and so forth. Why not some software to protect the kids as well instead of blaming the net and the bad guys.

Third question.
Why do they find it so perfectly OK to profit off of want to be child molesting sickos? If they really cared, all or at least a large portion of all the revenue generated from the show would be put to good use counseling children who were molested or something. But NO! it goes elsewhere.

it would be interesting to see the chat logs to see how it got to where it got.Once I had been on aol and got hi Im mary want to talk ,I ask how old are you ? she said 14 I said what are you doing up 3am in the middle of the week,you belong in bed and do your parents know your chatting in the middle of the night.she went away lol

you have some good points but overall i think the idea is good.. what they are trying to say is they shouldnt be the one doing this the police should.. they are just doing it because nobody else is..

when i read a few of the chat transcripts is was shocked myself as what they had explained as "predators" in a few cases wasnt so cut and dry. In one particular case the discussion was going on in a busy chat room and the "plant" only mentioned her fake age once , and this could easily have been missed by the guy who got trapped ( perhaps he went for a drink and didnt see her say she was 16 ) , most of them were pretty clearly abuse though... although again you can never be quite sure without all the details

Great show. I wonder if it really reduces the number of sex crimes. My favorite part of the show is watching the suspects get busted outside the homes. When they squeal and cry, I can assume who is likely to become a punching bag in prison. Check out the www.pervertedjustice.com website. They rank, based on votes, who are the lowest of the low. Its sad becuase I get the feeling they have done this before and not been busted. The best punishment of a child rapist/molester is being punked in jail. Suposedly child molesters are consistenly taunted and beaten. They say men who are locked up for killing thier wives are treated better than pedos by other inmates. Has there been any followups on these cases? I know the first group they busted when the show started walked because of a loophole when they were arrested. :mad:

Why do they insist on using PERVERTED JUSTICE as there "sting" operatives? That organization stinks to high heaven, finding it's ethics questioned repeatedly. Not to mention they are just plain vigilantes.

At least in the "bass-ackward" state of Ohio, the people involved in the "sting" must be Law Enforcement. This ensures at least a fundamental grasp of what constitutes a legal sting operation.

the media is more than willing to SPIN things to make sure they get the show they want. How many HOURS and HOURS did they have to chat to get even 3 people that would show.
How many times in that conversation did they tell the guy that they were under age.
