Do any fucking customer service reps in the U.S speak damn english anymore???
My biggest annoyance in life right now. Its so annoying and its with just about every major company now days. Its bad enough when Im calling for already confusing tech support and then on top of it the guy cant speak freakin english. I have no idea where these people are coming from but I think they must be from call centers in like the philippines or something. I will now stop doing business with a company if there is a competitor with an english speaking call center.

I hear that many of the call centres are outsourced to India. Cheaper labour saves on the long distance charges.
|
I think this should be illegal, I hope someday it is. I mean something about it just seems wrong. Im about to give up on ever trying to call a company ever again.

That's my #2 pet peeve right now.
#1 is how automated all phone support has become and how difficult it is to actually speak to someone. You used to be able to skip the process by pressing 0, but now, half the time I get, "I'm sorry, that is not a valid selection." Fuckers. |
<indian accent> How must I be helping you today? Yes you have problem right? I will be helping you away now.... You will be having a good day</indian accent>

English is the national language of the Philippines. There is a slight accent but much less than India. :2 cents:

:1orglaugh I fucking hate those guys. Any tech problem you have, always gets "have you tried to restarting your computer?" |
RoboForm phone support is right here in the US of A :)
1 877 ROBOFORM (762 6367) - no kidding +1 703 218 1851 for the international folks |
Top 10 callcenter company here in the Philippines have this 5weeks training where they need to pass, some call it virtual america where they study and memorize 50 city and states, geographical location and time zones of America. They also have Accent neutralization training and customer service 101 thing. And product training.
Almost all of my friends in college have good positions in different callcenter company (from customer service, credit collection and tech support). |

You know, when they outsource to india, the reps speak better english, know the latest baseball scores and hot sitcoms, and generally give you a much more pleasant runaround than ACTUAL home-based support people.

Damn, get this one. My girl is a travel agent. She calls Air Canada (Canada's National Airline mind you) to sort out a ticketing problem. She gets some guy who "doesn't know Engrish (yes I know the spelling) very well", he tells her. She asks to speak to someone who can help her a little better. 3 people later, she finally goes, "where is your call center?" The agent...."oh we aren't allowed to give that info out." She is so pissed off she blurts out, "well is obviously isn't in an English speaking country!" and hangs up. Her boss almost pissed his pants laughing at her.
