madawgz 09-28-2006 04:56 PM

i golf, but i couldnt tell what my clubs are called, i know they are 1, 7, etc etc

:1orglaugh

sorry

Lycanthrope 09-28-2006 05:02 PM

Cleveland TA3 gunmetal irons
Cleveland wedges
Taylor Made System 2 woods / driver (old but the only damn things I can hit straight)
Taylor Made Nubbins putter

I can't really comment on new clubs... the better they make them, the farther off course them seem to go for me.

Vegas Ken 09-28-2006 05:29 PM

I hear you guys. I keep thinking the problem with my game is the equipment, maybe it is the player?

Yeah, most definately the player. But I can keep buying stuff to make me feel better.

Spunky 09-28-2006 05:34 PM

I gave up chasing that damn ball all over hells half acre and losing my clubs in the bush when I lose my temper

Nickatilynx 09-28-2006 05:41 PM

Custom SMT Driver (learning to hit it)
Ping 8.5deg Driver ( Old reliable)
Taylor Made Firesole 12 deg driver (old but it works for me as a three wood)
Nike Irons
2 Cleveland Wedges
Scotty Cameron Putter

hezochiah 09-28-2006 05:45 PM

I've been golfing for a while and finally got some nice clubs last year. I have...

Mizuno T-Zoid Pro II Irons - The first set where I can hit the long irons well
Cleveland 56 and 60 degree wedges
Cleveland Launcher Driver - This thing crushes the ball
Adams GT 5 wood - only use around the green where chipping is impossible
Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Putter - Best putter I've ever had

I've never been able to hit fairway woods well but when I have an in between shot around the green that is too close to chip and too far to putt I just use that 5 wood and roll it up near the pin. Everything I have works well for me but definitely try a bunch of different stuff out. Out here in AZ, Pings are really popular and I know Cleveland makes some nice Irons too but everyone will have a different feel with various clubs. Just keep practicing and don't think too much when you're up there to hit the ball but just have fun and you'll definitely get better...

You should think about getting fitted. Have them figure out your swing speed, etc. The difference between a regular shaft / stiff shaft will make a difference in your game.

I play with

Driver/Fairway Woods: Fusion FT-3 / Fusion woods 3-7
Irons: Taylor Made R7 CGB MAX
Wedges: Taylor Made rac Black TP
Putter: Taylor Made Daytona CGB

I'm a 12 handicap.

You got good shit in your bag... Why switch?? Just got the itch? :winkwink:

Yes, for the most part, I agree, but pimping out the indian with arrows that work for him can only help, not hurt.

I used to play regular shaft clubs and recently switched to stiff and its taken 5-6 strokes off my game.

bushwacker 09-28-2006 06:07 PM

the best club in my bag...is the pencil with the eraser

I don't golf yet, I still have sex.

And I got some 36 HH knockers in my bag.

sickkittens 09-28-2006 06:13 PM

I have a custom Golfsmith set that I've had for years. It's not what's in the bag, it's how you use 'em.

yeah, you'd have a hard time swinging the club with those.

I play twice a week at Harding Park since I have a resident card, only $46 - you cant beat it! Two summers ago I picked up a set of Pings and love them. It was the first time I ever had a set of clubs fit to me. Wow what a huge difference. In one summer I dropped from a 90+ to an 84+. They added 2 inches in length to the shaft and x-large grips - these helped tremendously.

This summer I garaged my driver, over the winter I forgot how to hit it! So right now I'm playing a Callaway Big Bertha 3 wood and a 2 iron. I still average between 260-280 off the tee with the 3 so it isn't that bad. The Ping's are the best irons I have ever played. They are extremely forgiving, I've never hit so straight! I still play a standard shaft, my swing only clocks at about 80mph. My last set of clubs were Ben Hogan's forged with a stiff shaft and I really struggled with them. Not forgiving at all, if I didn't hit it perfect it was a shank somewhere other than straight. The Pings are very soft and I can really feel the ball, its like slicing threw warm butter.

BloodFart 09-28-2006 06:38 PM

Im hetrosexual so no golfing for me.

spooky181 09-28-2006 10:09 PM

Ping all the way for me. And it's not how you use them. I play off scratch but couldn't even play off single figures with crappy clubs!!

Pipeline Q 09-28-2006 11:40 PM

played once several years ago. got blisters on my hands and never went back.

Dagwolf 09-28-2006 11:48 PM

I recommend cheap, used golf clubs.

JJSLIMM 09-28-2006 11:50 PM

Thanks for the hookup. I'll make sure Rick checks it out too. I know that he was talking about getting a custom set the next time around.
