Wifi Question

Pretty clueless to the whole wifi thing, but tell me if this is at all possible...

I found a free hotspot literally across the street from my house. I have a netgear wireless router, which I'm actually connected to using a normal network cable. The network adapter for my PC isn't wireless. Is it possible to get the connection from the hotspot to go to the wireless router and still be able to keep the PC hooked up the same way (with a network cable I mean)....I know the easy way would be just to buy a wireless network adapter, but I don't feel like buying anything.

Thanks

-A wifi retard

you dont need a router you need a wireless card to receive the signal

That's what I figured, but if you can actually create a wireless access point using the router that other people can connect to, couldn't you reverse it and get a signal coming in somehow?

If you have a router that supports 3rd party firmware you can probably find something to turn it into a bridge/repeater/signal extender/whatever they want to call it. I think OpenWRT and DD-WRT will do that but I'm not sure if they support dlinks, but if it does you can do some pretty insane shit with those firmwares.
