No High Speed Access!

Bad news for me, just found out the new house I'm moving into doesn't have high speed access available yet! This is devastating, anyone have any ideas on alternative solutions??

Pipecrew 06-27-2002 05:48 PM

Well, the cable company is the one who is supposed to service the area, but they haven't expanded their high speed internet to my area yet. The company is Adelphia and they just filed for bankruptcy/reorganization... so who knows when they are going to get around to providing the service in my area. I looked into other options such as bell south DSL and RoadRunner, but neither offer service in my area either.. I'm not even in the boonies either, moving right south of west palm beach.. what a bunch of crap :-P

ya, usually if you goto the websites for the major providers around that area they have an online form you use that will tell you if your address has service

www.DirectWay.com

right now free dish and install

400kbps down
128 kbps up

not cable speeds but it aint dial up

candidpublishinginc 06-27-2002 07:00 PM

Adelphia's broadband internet is so shitty, that you're better off on a dialup. Seriously.

I'd suggest getting a T1, that will more than likely be your best option.

J.R. 06-27-2002 08:07 PM

use satellite, its what I use at home.

They all suck though.. dialup is usually faster.

No more spamming for you I guess :Graucho

kmanrox 06-27-2002 08:09 PM

yes, use satellite as a last resort, maybe im weird, but when im lookin for a new dwelling one of the first questions I ask is about the availability of the high speed access and it is certainly a weighting factor as if i will move there....

foe 06-27-2002 08:24 PM

ouch all i can say is that really sucks for you . . . . guess we wont be seeying you on gfy that much anymore :( well maybe when you login throough your local library since they will have better connections.... anywyas Id suggest you get a t1 line or just get another house

When I moved the 1st thing I ask about DSL or Cable....
They have Cable..... And I dad DSL in the Bay Area.... Also have 2 DSL modems, which are of no use to me now.... So I had get a Cable modem..... Well I did find out Cable is faster than DSL....
