Apple to trademark "podcast"
Apple to trademark "podcast"
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=34616 MAKER of entertainment gear Apple has decided to issue cease and desist notices to all those who use the word podcast on their web sites. |
as leo laport sad on this subject
simple solution would be to use the term webcast from now on sounds better for what it is. |
That wont hold up.
Apple can tell people not to use "ipodcast", but they have no leverage over "podcast." |
This is bad.
I am suprised Apple are doing this, as I am sure the term podcast helps get sales of ipods. |
This is an extremely bad move on Apple's part. I'm sure they will sooner rather than later drop the whole thing... its pure idiocy.
|
no way! thats fucked...:(
|
ya right...
|
bump..........
|
Bad idea from Apple...
|
i think this is the same as the RIAA/MPAA cases , where people get scared shitless when they get a legal notice in the mail from some big company , they give in without a fight
all you need is a group to stand up to the civil suits , the courts will be in favour of the small player and tell apple to get fucked |
afterall , Apple only have rights to IPOD , not podcast , podcast has become such a generic term now , in the public domain ,
|
No letters yet... just great domains///
Ipodadult.com Ipodgays.com Ipodlesbians.com and about 200 other premiere domains.. many of them "podcasting" Just not sure what to do with them yet, ima newb |
in other news.. Apple now owns the term "Pod People" and the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers because there lawyers find the concept just so endearing and hip.
|
Google: Results 1 - 10 of about 98,100,000 for podcast.
Looks like apple will have alot of c&d's to send... |
