is it legal in the usa to wear...

Is it legal in the usa to wear a t-shirt with the word FUCK on it? I'm going
on a visit there and want to know if I have to censor my t-shirts.

squishypimp 09-27-2006 05:17 PM

sure, in the USA we have freedom of speech with allows you wear anything :)

Ok just making sure cause I noticed you sensor those words on TV and radio..
So if I say fuck in public or have it on a t-shirt noone will punch my brains in?

Sly 09-27-2006 05:18 PM

Its legal, but that doesn't mean its appropriate. Depending where you are, people may complain and ask you to leave their establishment.

After Shock Media 09-27-2006 05:21 PM

I wear the assortment of GFY shirts all over the place.

Ok I'm not going to take any chances then... Overhere noone even looks twice but I already expected it to be a possible problem in the usa.

Did it ever cause you problems?

notabook 09-27-2006 05:26 PM

It's legal, but like others have said you can be asked to leave their establishments. If you refuse they can call the police and have you arrested. Just walking on the street/other public places I doubt anything legally could be done to you.

Why would you want to?
Maybe I'm a prude but I don't think its appropriate for most establisments.
back alley bars, redneck bars it will be OK.
Other than that look out.

It would depend on the city as well.

Gillespie 09-27-2006 05:29 PM

I had a shirt that said "Platinum - Fuck em all" (styled like Metallica's album) and the only comment I got was "nice shirt" from a flight attendant.

american pervert 09-27-2006 05:31 PM

:winkwink:

fallenmuffin 09-27-2006 05:35 PM

Freedom of speech says I say whatever I want.. However someplaces may ask you to leave.

LarryS 09-27-2006 06:47 PM

Neither is being a fat ass and wearing a mini skirt or spandex but it doesnt stop them. Why should I worry about offending someone with a bad word on my shirt, heaven forbid.

The voice of reason yet again. Damned "adults" getting offended or bent out of shape over meaningless text. I wear my "tasteless" clothes with pride.

drjones 09-27-2006 07:17 PM

I regularly wear my "Gone Fisting" shirt, and my "No you cant have a fucking cigarrette" shirt. Never heard anything but compliments.

Mainly just wear them to work or bars.. generally dont like to go to places where that humor wouldnt be appreciated wearing them.

Matt 26z 09-27-2006 07:17 PM

It could cause problems if the wrong person gets offended. Check out this story of a woman with a political bumper sticker that read "I'm tired of all the BUSHIT."

http://www.progressive.org/mag_mc032706

She was fined $100

aico 09-27-2006 07:18 PM

I saw a license plate yesterday that said "Chinga" which is Fuck in Spanish... and it's in LA, wondered how they got away with that myself, cuz I know they would never let you put Fuck on one.

another fucking bot ?

Scootermuze 09-27-2006 07:30 PM

In 2001 a gal in a neighboring town was arrested for wearing a t-shirt with "I am the God of Fuck" on it..

She was arrested for harrassment.. The ACLU got involved and the conviction was overturned, but not before it went before the state court of appeals..

Probably cost a nice chunk o' change to win..

Funny thing was.. the cops took her home to change it and she put on a Charles Manson shirt.. which apparently was ok with the law....

Sooo... don't wear anything in a little hick town..

MandyBlake 09-27-2006 10:50 PM

i wouldn't wear it anywhere there are kids around

CaptainHowdy 09-27-2006 10:52 PM

Nice question................

fetishblog 09-27-2006 11:21 PM

It's legal to do it, but some places do have obscenity laws, so good luck with that. If you're lucky, you'll just get a misdemeanor summons(or citation). =)

dynastoned 09-27-2006 11:31 PM

lol this thread is hilarious. dude wear whatever the fuck you want you wont get anything more then a dirty look in some places. never seen so many paranoid fucks in one thread.

you're kidding, right? funny t-shirts with sweary words are all over the place, I don't think anybody notices them over here unless you're in a church I guess

emthree 09-27-2006 11:40 PM

You might get a hardtime at the airport.
Normal people dont mind, but stuck up dickheads will give you a hard time.

KustomKowgurl 09-27-2006 11:41 PM

Hehe...it's definitely legal...just not always appreciated. I was at a rodeo concert once where Kevin Fowler (a rowdy drunk ass Texas Country singer) was playing. A friend of mine wore one of his Tshirt that says "Kevin Fuckin' Fowler" real big across the back (People chant it at virtually every concert he has). Some woman in the row behind us was bitchin' and moanin' the WHOLE time cuz she thought it was "inappropriate and disrespectful" for her to be wearing a shirt that said that to an event where she knew children would be present. My friend told the woman (very drunkenly) to fuck off :) Good times :)

MetaMan 09-27-2006 11:42 PM

my shirt says:

"fuck me in the ass with a big dick"

and i am straight.

tony286 09-27-2006 11:45 PM

I wouldnt wear one at chucky cheese but you can wear it anywhere you like. Most will be oblivious anyway, people are in their own little world lol

I was thinking the same thing. These people need to get out more. :1orglaugh

pocketkangaroo 09-28-2006 02:36 AM

You have nothing to worry about at all. If you go into a classy establishment, they may ask you to leave, but even then it's a stretch. You might get a few dirty looks, but nothing worse than that.

The only censorship in the US is when the President is in an area, in which case you are not allowed to protest.

I LOVE Little Brown Asses 09-28-2006 03:12 AM

wear it. if people complain, FUCK 'EM. :thumbsup

sumphatpimp 09-28-2006 05:28 AM

you want to wear a t shirt with FUCK on it because you want attention; yet if you get that attention you will cry.
stay home.
Terrell Owens has that gig all wrapped up.
no room for two in any country.

OHH yea that reminds me... I remember a story a while back about a woman actually being FORCED to get off a plane, because one of the passengers was offended. I think it was an anti-bush shirt with some bad words on it.

The stewardesses actually made this lady get off the plane and miss her flight, even though she said shed cover it up with a blanket or sweatshirt.

So uh... mabye re-think the airport idea.

wtf is it like to be a person that is that fucking rediculous, like that offended passenger.. I cant comprehend it.

yeah right.

lets see how far you get with a "i'm gonna kill the president next thursday" shirt.

abadfish 09-28-2006 10:06 AM

I'd feel uncomfortable wearing such a shirt but would not have a problem if I saw someone else with the same shirt on. I'd bet if you are in a larger city it would not be as much of a problem as in a smaller town.

I have my collection of tshirt hell and other site shirts and I've never once gotten a complaint, but they are about my only shirts I get compliments on... so... :)
