Most likely because saying they don't 'believe' him will give him the urge to shut everyone up by posting the stats and then they can all get excited by it :) Or simply if they've never been close to that with all the hours they put in, then it seems impossible for anyone else to do it.

Regardless if it's a .10 sale or a $42.00 sale - his statement was that it was a 1000 sales. Yes it makes a difference in HIS bank account, but maybe it was a goal he was working towards - so it's an accomplishment nonetheless.
