Which one would you pick? (pic)

top - The Gibson Slash

middle - The Gibson Zakk

bottom - The Gibson Joe Perry

They are all about the same price and have their own unique qualities about them.

I'm leaning towards the Zakk because of the EMG pickups but also love the Slash for the tone and the Joe Perry for the look

sickbeatz 09-22-2006 08:56 PM

gibsons are nice guitars

i prefer U.S. made strats

squishypimp 09-22-2006 08:56 PM

Gibsons rock but I usually stay away from sig guitars. Out of those three though I would get the Slash because it has the power bridge on it that simulates an acoustic tone. Good luck and I'm sure you'll end up making the right choice.

Here's what my collection used to look like before I sold most of them. I still have the Les Paul, the Telecaster, the SG and the acoustic.

Seeing what you already have I would maybe throw an EMG set into the LP Studio and get the Slash or the Joe Perry. This way you get the EMG/Zakk Wylde sound but then with the Slash you get the electric/acoustic versatility or with the Joe Perry you get the look you really like and can always add a Power Bridge to it also. I've never really been a fan of that ZW finish either, just not my style at all.

micker 09-22-2006 09:51 PM

the zack is nice, I remember seeing pics of that guitar all over guitar mags in the 90's. cant go wrong with a gibson!

Even though I don't really play much anymore, I've always wanted a gibson... Wanted one since I was in school... the irony is that I got my father a Les Paul for his 50th birthday and then last year I got my son an SG for christmas.... neither of them play them.

Good point considering I can put the Zakk EMG set into the studio for about 200 bucks.

Then get the classic tobacco style of the slash along with the electric/acoustic versatility

I use to play in a band and I like a bunch of different guitars for different reasons. Some for the sound, the looks, the way they play, etc.

My non trem guitars I have strung with 10's. My trem guitars with 9's. My Gibson Les Paul Studio is tuned to E flat and my Ibanez RG-565 with EMG's is E flat.

The only thing the same with all guitars is the strings and picks I use...

D'Addario XL strings and Dunlop tortex 1m picks

What can I say I'm a guitar whore. If I had my way I would own about 200 guitars

Vendzilla 09-22-2006 10:21 PM

No Banjo's?

ImLost 09-22-2006 10:27 PM

Gibson Slash, hands-down. Not so flashy and it gets the job done. :thumbsup

I'm a Charvel whore personally. :pimp

I will. You'd think I'd have some, eh?

My favorite is my blue Jackson with all original hardware (337xxx series - not rare). I've loved many guitars, but I've never picked up another that had the same action or felt as natural as this one.

:)

gecko 09-22-2006 10:49 PM

The Gibson Slash

My favorite is my Ibanez RG-565 with EMG's. It's not my most expensive guitar but that guitar can play everything from blues to metal to clean and doesn't break a sweat.

Funny how you can pick up one guitar and it rocks, pick up another one that is exactly the same and it's not in the same ball park.

I've had the same experience. It's understandable with used gear, but with identical new gear it blows my mind. You can stare down the neck looking for variations in warp, compare the strings, etc. Identical, but they feel completely different.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one afflicted.

My second guitar was an Ibanez (unknown model, but it was bottom of the line - I was young). I loved that thing. Wish I still had it so I could see what I thought of it now...

Bozena X 09-22-2006 11:04 PM

I would rather trick out my stratocaster.

Ice 09-22-2006 11:21 PM

Another guitar I'd buy is the Ibanez RG3120 which is about 1/2 the price of the gibsons but has similar quality with the difference of a 24 fret neck and a floyd trem

That's a sweet guitar, but I tend to stick with solid colors when I can.

I guess it hurts a little less when I nick the paint that way. :)

Maybe it's time to get a custom guitar built. I like a mahagony body for the sustain with a maple top for some brightness and a rosewood neck with a ebony fretboard for a crisp attack

You should go for it. I'd never have the nerve for that because it would never be quite right.

Then again, maybe I should take a chance. :)

MsWild 09-23-2006 05:45 PM

Gibson slash is very cool :)

sharp 09-23-2006 06:25 PM

Lykos 09-23-2006 07:08 PM

Wiggles 09-23-2006 07:19 PM

E$_manager 09-23-2006 09:08 PM

The first one. I like the color.

sickkittens 09-23-2006 09:21 PM

Get which one you like best. I can't stand when people get instruments because their favorite artists use them. :(
