Why don't paysites email their members when...

they put up new content.. or once a week with a list of that weeks new content... Are they afraid of screwing up their already declining rebills? What about frequently updated solo girl sites? I would think doing that could really benifit them.

Ryan St. Germain 09-22-2006 05:01 PM

a lot of people don't really like to be emailed, and can react harshly (particularly if it's a mass mailing).
I have made it a point of emailing expired members and telling them about the newest content and what's on the way. i've gotten some people to come back because of it.

We email about once a month showing all the month's content updates. I'm afraid once a week might be overkill. Signups rock after our mailings.

Not all of the ad emails could get thru my spam filters :))

He-he-he

I tried to get (-a certain website owner-) to do this years ago when I was working for his company and he explained to me that he didn't want to send out any kind of notices because there were a LARGE number of members who bought memberships and then forgot about them and he didn't want them being reminded because they might cancel their subscriptions to the site :(

That's pretty much what this whole industry is built on.
A little less these days maybe, but I'd still say the majority of members fall under that category. Depends a little what kind of site it is as well,,,

That's what I figured.. But it seems to me that would be an old school way of thinking.. In todays climate, it's pretty obvious that the surfers are smarter and have no problem joining and quiting.. and that's going to increase... So if you're counting on the "forgotten" rebills, you're screwing yourself long term...

Now maybe it's still not reasonable for the standard type sites to do this yet.. but what about solo girl sites??

I'd say that's pretty true. I have people that join and then quit at the same time. Then they rejoin on recurring the next month if they like it. Too many sites pulled that "impossible to find the cancel link" game in the past, so people are a bit wiser about these things now a days.

Dagwolf 09-22-2006 05:32 PM

hmm... Maybe I should send some of my old members a free month.

Tempest 09-22-2006 06:59 PM

bump for others..

Methodcash Rick 09-22-2006 07:17 PM

When you update all of your sites daily, it's kind of useless emailing members about it.

We email previous expired members tho. :)

DutchTeenCash 09-22-2006 07:19 PM

lotsa ppl join one site first then the 2nd or 3rd, which would mean they get like 9 emails a week saying we updated pics, blogs and vids - dont think they want that

baycouples 09-22-2006 07:34 PM

I also don't understand why people don't have web-based bookmarks on their sites. I've implemented it into my site http://WetlookPro.com - so when people like pictures or videos they get to add it to their own gallery instead of some folder on their computer where their wives will find it sooner or later.

If you want me to - I can write this code for you too. It'll retain your members for way longer.

squishypimp 09-22-2006 07:35 PM

also alot of members forget about memberships. when emailing them they remember and cancel....its not always good...

E$_manager 09-22-2006 08:11 PM

They are doing updates. I don' think everyone want to know that via e-mails.

venus 09-22-2006 08:14 PM

I have been doing it for years

madawgz 09-23-2006 01:14 AM

emthree 09-23-2006 03:42 AM
